Buy the 2021 RDX PMC Orange or wait for 2022?

Hi everyone - I'm currently driving a 2011 TSX and thinking about upgrading to an RDX. I came across the PMC model, and immediately became enamoured of all the tech (plus I'm a huge fan of orange). But I'm curious if its better to wait as I've read the 2022 may be right around the corner (also it sounds like that model could have some new tech like wireless Carplay).

Also, I'm not sure it's appropriate to ask here, but what's a fair offer for the RDX PMC given a new model potentially coming soon. Understand it's very limited but it's also been around for awhile and the orange could be an acquired taste for some. My initial inquiries to dealers came back at around 60 including taxes and fees.

thanks

I would go for the PMC. That's the only truly "special" RDX Acura has ever offered. Personally I think it looks fantastic in thermal orange pearl with all the black accents. And the PMC really does put lots of touch labor into those vehicles, so I would expect them to be the most rattle-free, best-aligned body panels, etc. of any RDX.

Definitely considering it! Just wondering if I'm getting a decent price. I typically hold onto my cars for years so I'm out of the habit of dealing with dealerships.

Seafood Licorice,

The 2021 Acura RDX PMC is hard to come by. Here in HI, Acura of Honolulu only got one (1) PMC allocated. It sold fast. I saw the proud owner driving it down the street here in HNL. Go for it, if you can get one. It's only money.

Get the PMC. I walked into a dealership near me in February. A PMC was sitting in the middle of the showroom. I was only casually looking for my next car. I couldn't believe how beautiful the PMC looked. I asked a sales guy who bought it. He said no one. They had just parked it in the showroom hours ago after stripping off the shipping wrap. The car was number 119 of 360 worldwide (he showed me the plaque inside the car that said "119 of 360, Performance Manufacturing Center"). The sticker was 52K, pricey for a five-seater Acura. But it came with all of the packages: Tech, A-Spec, and Advanced, and OMG that color! My casual search was over.

The 2022s might show up sometime in July. Don’t expect huge changes. Most likely, the outside will look more like the MDX. If u like the PMC, get it.
The acura dealer in ANN ARBOR, MI claims to have one. Oh, and expect to pay above MSRP.

I was willing to pay sticker price for my PMC, but I was not willing to pay a markup. Every dealer is different. They don't all slap on a markup. I remember when the new Corvette C8 came out (a year ago?) a lot of dealers were adding a markup as high as 10K, but many were willing to sell at MSRP, and a few large dealers were willing to negotiate a bit. It all depends on the dealer. Hopefully, the Acura dealer in Ann Arbor is not a price gouger.

I'd go for it if since you're able to find one! They're definitely sharp looking!

Thanks - this dealer says he’s charging MSRP + accessories and taxes to get to 60k.

If you get it for a decent price it's worth it. If dealers are price gouging, I personally would move on. But then again, I probably wouldn't even look at the RDX at that price. I would probably get a Volvo XC60 T8 or even Polestar with tax credits.

Also, keep in mind we've entered a weird era where because of shortages the auto market, for both new and used, is WHITE HOT. People are paying $5K over MSRP for all kinds of cars. So maybe it's not a bad deal after all. If it was a 2022, they would probably ask over MSRP.

Personally I’d be inclined to wait until 2022 comes out at least to see the changes. I expect there will be minor cosmetic changes but more importantly update on the interior to be more like the MDX, hopefully including wireless CarPlay and changes to button placements.

I’m not sure the color will be the same though; I think Acura changes the PMC color from one year to the next for more “exclusivity.” It would still be an exclusive color, but specific to the year.

I spoke to my local dealer and they have a PMC on the lot that has been sold but is waiting for the owner to arrive (they are moving from another state). He said they have daily offers on it including WAY over sticker.

I love mine. There are only 5 in NM and I have yet to see another one in person.

What accessories? Are you kidding me? Is that a Canadian 60K? Mine came with the cover for the rear compartment to hide contents from prying eyes. It came with the grocery net. It came with wheel locks (to keep those gorgeous 20-inch black wheels from being stolen). I got them to throw in the spare tire (including install) and the inflator/repair kit. What other accessories do you need?

So true. A Hyundai dealer near me is asking and getting 9K over sticker for Kia Telluride SX and Nightfall variants.

I presume you mean a KIA dealer...Hyundai sells the Telluride's cousin, the Palisades.

Ha! Yup, that's what I meant. My wife and I looked at the Telluride and the Palisade. It was no contest in her opinion. Palisade all the way. She prefered the Palisade interior, especially the top-of-the-line Calligraphy. I preferred the Telluride exterior, but I agreed with her that the interior was no contest. Since the engine and transmission are identical, it was an easy decision to get her the Hyundai.

Ended up pulling the trigger on the PMC. I think I got the last one in So Cal. Brilliant color and great tech.

Looks great. That is the 'perfect package' RDX with Tech, Advance and ASpec all in one...as well as the 'PMC' on top of all that. I wish it was available when I bough mine (white Aspec). Now that Acura has stated that the NSX will no longer exist after 2022 I wonder if the future of PMC's will be affected, since that is where is all started (I think). Too bad about the NSX....a stunningly good looking car even though I don't know you never saw many of them on the road (thus the discontinuance?)
