Black roof vinyl wrap

Considering doing a black roof wrap on a 2019 A-Spec (Lunar Silver paint).
Any thoughts or recommendations? Glossy or flat black? Definitely want something higher quality that will last.

Left or Right?

Gloss black so it will match the shiny black glass panoramic moonroof (not to mention the shine of the other body panels).

It can't be too much can it?

Isn't a whole vehicle $2k-ish?

While I like the look of making the whole top black (gloss) I wouldn't do it. Especially here in the desert!

If you do wrap the roof, go with glossy black and you should also opt to do the side mirrors black too.

Gloss for sure, that’s what I’d like to wrap mine in. Haven’t been able to get an estimate since all the shop hours are M-F which is what I work.

Make sure to post pictures when you get it done

I should clarify, do gloss not matte. Matte is just too boy racer to me. Also as someone mentioned above, definitely also do the mirror caps in gloss black!

Thanks for all the input. Having it delivered from the dealer by the end of the week. First step is to add a little tint and do a glossy wrap on the roof (and mirrors - good call vvlien). Will also look into a replacement shark fin antenna in black. Hopefully they are easy to swap out? Not sure if the wrap would last on a thin antenna, but maybe can try it. Thanks again, will follow up with pics as soon as it is done!

Should probably add the A-pillar onwards towards the back of the car and include the side mirrors.

Personally don't care for the look, but if determined, gloss for sure. And agree if you live in a hotter, sunny place....just asking for a hotter interior.

Someone on FB did this and it looked horrible. The lines of the A-Pillar gaps do not make for a clean transition to black; it looked very Honda Civic Ricer.

That's actually the dilemma I am having. Took it to the shop and got the tint done, but can't decide if just doing the roof will look ok. Spoiler would need to be done to look right. Just not a good transition point / break-line between the two pieces. Same with the A-pillar. May have to think on it for a bit...

I swear I remember seeing a white A-spec RDX with a gloss black hood. I thought the roof was gloss black too. It may have had a roof rack. I can't find the photo, but if you can, it might give you some ideas. Either way, please post photos when you are done. Your ideas of the wrap on the silver sound awesome! I haven't decided on the color I will get, but this has me thinking.....

Never mind. i found it in the "your RDX right now" thread. It's white with the gloss black hood only. It's beautiful, but not what the OP mentioned about the roof.

Phun with Photoshop. Let the debates begin.

Black roof, A Pillars, and mirrors. The A pillar looks a bit weird due to natural break in sheet metal.

Black roof, A Pillars, and mirrors. The A pillar has a bit extra wrapped to try and normalize the way it should start. How it would look in real life is debatable.

Big NOPE to the A-pillars. Just the roof and mirror caps. It's become too boy racer otherwise. IMO.

I agree. I think the new Volvo XC40 has a model with black roof. I think it looks weird including the pillars..or half of the C (or is it D?) pillar as Volvo did. Maybe another current crossover as well?

On the XC40 it is the D pillar and I actually do like it, but only because the rest of the vehicle is so understated whereas the RDX has a lot of lines so it looks very busy.

Out of all the suggestions - just the original.

None of that pillar stuff on this ride...

I wouldn't do it - it reminds me of two-tone cars from the '50s & '60s.

But I am considering gloss vinyl for the chrome body trim to make it more A-Spec-like. Not the grill; I like the chrome around the grill.
