I know car makers get a little weird sometimes, but I didn't think BMW would mess with the name of their iconic sports sedan. Aside from putting an "M" in front of it, which I think stands for Money.

BMW M340i x-drive exists, and it's an AWD sports sedan. It's not an X3 crossover.

Comparing new to new, how many thousands more was that BMW to a comparably equipped RDX?

Using the configurator, and getting as close as possible to the Advance, the price came to $63725, vs. $47500 for the advance.

you pays your money and you takes your choice.

The exact name is BMW X3 M40i.

To replace my 535 with a 540 configured the way I wanted it was $72K. Too much, for me. We still go to Florida in the winter and go to Europe in the summer, and we ain’t giving that up for a slightly better, or even somewhat car when a perfectly fine car can be had for far less.

I'm talking more about the X3, Q5, GLC, which are at the top. Comparing the RDX to them, the RDX has a pretty nice price advantage. Then you factor in that they all are about equal and it makes the RDX an easier choice if you want to save money. If money is not an issue (which if you are purchasing a luxury vehicle and staying within your means $5-10k might not bother a lot of people if they are actually getting a better product) people would probably pick the Audi, BMW, or Mercedes. I'd rather save the $5-10k lol
Infiniti royally messed up when they moved to FWD platforms and CVT's then jacked up their prices by a ridiculous amount. People who are spending that kind of money expect better drivetrains and a better badge.

Are you actually in Europe? Cause all the X3s are Built In ‘Murica.

Well in the US, M40i is just X3 with a 355hp engine.
I am pretty sure that's what you got. M340i is 3 series with the same engine. Do check and let us know!

There is a real M badged X3 coming for 2020.

I did check and I was wrong. The exterior badging and door sills all read M40i. I think I got confused because I was researching about my car and came across several threads and postings about the m340i, so it probably just stuck in my brain.

I suppose if you need utility as well as sport, you can just load the Miata into the bed of your pickup truck.

My perspective on the new RDX, is that although they offer a lot more than my 14 and 17 models, especially because I usually buy the highest end unit, although if I buy one it will likely be the Aspec as I like the sporty look, the price has really increased from my 17. As a result I am also looking at the MDX and may actually look at the RX350 and Audi Q5. I assume I will end up with another RDX though.

The bottom line is the price point and this is why I have owned many Acura's. Not sure the price point is there anymore because I could say get a tech package RDX for about the same price of my 17, but I know I would regret not getting the A-spec. So I am not sure what I am going to do.

I remember when I was happy with an Accord, but now I get in a Honda product, like the new Pilot Black Edition or a CRV and although very nice, just are not as nice as the Acura comparable (MDX/RDX).

My son just bought the 19 Civic (LX), (which is why I was in the Honda dealership) and I will tell you, for the price point this is one nice vehicle. The EX model (next model up), had a lot of extra things I could not do without, but for $3000 CDN difference he could not of afforded it.

The bottom line is what is your price point? If I had none, I would for sure get a high end S model Audi as those vehicles are sweet.
