Auto Folding Mirrors
Hi all picking up my 2019 RDX Advance tomorrow, was wondering if there is anyway to install the Canada version of the power folding mirrors into the USA model.
Thanks for any replies |

I am also super interested in this. It would be great if someone could create a DIY guide on how and where to order parts and how to install them.

Call a Canadian dealer and see what they say.

What's next, headlight washers?
|
Based on the poor defrosting the other night I want the heated windshield from the Canadian models.

With what appears to be the last snow of the season melting away now and the prospect of warmer temperatures here in the Lower Mainland forthcoming, I can probably go ahead and re-enable auto-folding on shutdown. I've had that feature disabled for the winter so I wouldn't find them frozen up in the folded position after parking it outside all day at work. So thanks for the reminder. :)

Stating the obvious but you can manually fold the US spec mirrors in or out.
|
I love having the power folding mirrors on my aspec, I wonder why they don’t have that available in the US, cost cutting measure? |

American VIN will not valid when you enter into Canadian site..
also i don’t want to give anyone here any hope as the internals of each mirror listed on the American site is $666, that’s for the non auto folding part, so this is easily a couple thousand dollar upgrade if you did it, I can’t imagine what the auto folding part options costs 😂😂 |
I was hoping it would just be activating a module using FORScan . I no that on the Ford F-150 it can be done, because the Lincolns have the option. Just a wish.

I pulled my side mirror off to repair it a while back and I can tell you there is nothing in those mirrors that even hint of being able to be retro fit. It would probably be a real rebuild to make it work even if you had the parts, as the wiring harness and support infrastructure are just not there.

some overlord at Acura America decided that we don't need folding mirrors because our park spots are huge at Costco, Target, Walmart. No one parallel park on the street and we are too cheap to pay for such options.

nah, he saw that the USA is a much larger market and knew people would trade in their 2019 RDX for the 2020 with folding mirrors......

They're just taking a cue from Lexus. The ES has had power folding mirrors in other countries for years, still not available in the US.

This is one of those strange car things in Europe. So many vehicles have power folding mirrors as well as headlight washers. Things like the Mitsubishi outlander in Europe have headlight washers and power folding mirrors! Whereas here in NA that's usually reserved to luxury vehicles.

There are a couple of Hyundai's at my office parking lot that have power folding mirrors and yes - in the US>

And so does our new CX-5. I don't get why Lexus and Acura feel we don't want it here. It really can't cost that much more to include something that is already available.

Why do you say Lexus ? Both RX and NX have that option in the US. As far as I know, Acura is the only one in this segment that doesn't have this.

The latest MDX does have power folding, so it's not an Acura US policy decision. |
Canadians get the power folding mirror, spare tire, and heated steering wheel in the ASPEC. With the amount of praise the rdx gets for value in the US, the Canadian version seems like such a steal. This is why I had to get an ASPEC myself!
