Anyone tried Rear bumper guard

Has anyone installed a rear bumper guard like this one?
https://www.vanguardoffroad.com/19-a...layer-s-s.html

I wanted to try it so that I don't have to deal with the bumper bully where I have to take it in and out of the back everyday. It claimed to install without drilling. Just want to know if anyone has experience.

Thanks

Hmmm, after getting rear-ended twice in my old car, I’m intrigued. I looked under the bumper, there is a bracket on either side when the bottom of the bumper is attached. It has a plastic push pin to hold it together. That’s where I’d bet it attaches.

Good to see it is made from 304 SS, good corrosion resistance.

Will the bumper guard help with rear end collision? I'm only thinking about parallel parking and protect bumper from scratches.

Both times I got rear-ended were very low speed, and most of the damage was to the bumper cover. But it still took several days each time to get repaired, and resulted in Carfax reports, lowering the value of my trade. Figure that a $229 bumper guard might save a lot of inconvience, but not sure.

From my research, the conventional wisdom is that most brush guards and bull bars (and I expect these bumper guards) act as damage magnifiers in all but the most minor collisions. This is because they (in most cases) attach “superficially” and they may spread damage from a point impact across the width of the bumper as it folds in an impact.

Plus in my opinion, they are kind of ugly, but to each their own.

In case of strong impact coalition, most likely the passenger injury would be more severe. All depends where exactly those guards would be actually mounted on the car body, as we all know cars are designed to absorb crash impacts.

Have to pass on this one. I'm willing to take my chances.

Might as well apply the yellow and black caution tape across the back end too.

It's kind of like the fallacy of the 5 mph bumpers of the 70's and 80's - works well in low speed impact but costs way more to repair in any impact exceeding the design spec.

no way.. Bumpers are designed to absorb impact and these kind of guard look ugly too

I have a 2020 RDX, and I am looking for a compatible "brush guard" or "bull guard" for the front. I can't find any listed for sale anywhere to fit my model. Has anyone found a good front guard? Thanks

Considering how many years this generation has been around, there must be a very good reason why nobody offers one. Probably because of all the sensors up front. You could always email one of the manufacturers of guards for earlier models, ask them why.
