Advice on Interior Colors

I'm looking for a new car and the RDX is high up on my list. I've been lurking here for a while and I'm looking for some feedback on the different interior colors. My last 2 vehicles have been 01 and 09 MDXs, both black on black. I'm looking to go with a different exterior color, really like the Fathom Blue. My hesitation is that the interior is really light. I plan on keeping the car for a while, probably 8+ yrs so I'm worried how it will hold up. I love the black interior on my MDX, easy to clean and I don't have to worry about marking it up.

The base model comes with the black interior but the advanced (which is what i want) only comes in grey. I get that Acura wants to save money by limiting the color combos but this just seems silly to me. Anyway, any feedback from anyone who has the light interior as far as keeping it clean, staining from jeans and leather belts and how you think it will hold up over time is appreciated.

That's the color choice I went with. I would hazard a guess -- but it's just a guess -- that it holds up just fine. It's leather, so it holds up as well as leather would. I probably would be a little hesitant about it if you were constantly spilling dark liquids on your seats all the time or if you have some weird reason that you're constantly covered in mud, but otherwise I think it's not an issue. Even if you were sort of messy, as long as you clean the leather in a timely fashion, you have some latitude.

The light leather is easy to clean. We had beige leather on our prior car for 11 years, and we kept it clean. I have beige leather on my RDX, and two or three cleanings a year are enough. We have no kids or pets.

Both the wife and I were torn between Parchment and Espresso. I peferred the Espresso. It seems richer and more luxurious to me. I still think I would have liked it better but the Parchment was in stock so that's what we took. No problem keeping it clean. The grey is just as light.

I hate black interior. In college, I drove a cab part time. All had black vinyl interior. My first car, a '71 Chevy Nova, had black vinyl interior. I wouldn't take a car with black interior if Oprah gave it to me.

Getting into a black interior in the summer must be insane. That's all I can think about.

I could be wrong, but I think all the trims/colors have a black dashboard, steering wheel, and carpet, which is unfortunate, because, in my experience, black carpet shows every spec of dirt.

The Ventilated seats are nice for my black seats during the summer

I appreciate the responses, always fun to see different perspectives on things. 18+ yrs with black interiors and the heat never bothered me. Easy to clean, wipe them with a damp rag and occasional conditioning and they still look great. I have all weather mats so the carpets stay pretty clean. My biggest concern is how the light color will hold up long term but it doesn't sound like it will be an issue? Tough call for me. Of course, if Acura would just make dark and light interior options available for all the colors this wouldn't be an issue. And don't get me started on the Advanced wheels...

On the Acura web site I was configuring a base model RDX, which I am interested in purchasing, and I found most all the colors were locked to black interiors, which, living in Southern California, I do NOT want. Ideally, I would like a blue RDX with a parchment interior. Is this possible? Because according to the Acura website, the base model RDX is only available in white and red with the parchment interior. I'll take the red if I have to, but I'd prefer the blue. White is kind of boring.

Depending on how OCD you are. If you don't mind it showing a bit of wear and dirt over time, it will be fine. I have always had light colored interiors and the light parts tend to show everything whether it's a mark from a shoe, someone careless at the car wash, etc. But I still prefer lighter interiors.

I hear you on the Advance wheels. IMO, the tech and the base models have the best looking wheels.

I like both ebony and espresso. My '11 RDX has ebony, no problems, still looks nice and is easy to clean. Summer heat is also not something that really bothers me all these years.
There was no Advance gunmetal/ebony anywhere in stock, so a week ago I bought '20 Advance gunmetal/espresso. Looks nice so far, no regrets.
