Acura Care Maintenance Package
I ended up buying the 4year/48000 mile maintenance package. I'm thinking that I overpaid here. Is this a correct assumption? I believe I can still get a refund. Should I? Or what kind of maintenance should I expect to be doing over the next four years to warrant such a high price tag?
Also, I haven't received the actually contract/terms yet... But is the 4 years/48000 limitation based on whichever number comes first?

That comes to $450/year, or $900 on a two year cycle.
The first two years is probably no more than three oil changes, a wiper blade and an air and cabin filter change. The next two years are the same thing, plus throw in a brake fluid and maybe drivetrain fluid replacement.
So that is a total of six oil changes and tire rotations. Plus, you should really do your own wiper blade and cabin/air filter changes to both control quality, timing, and to put your hands on the car. (An engine air filter for the Accord’s 2.0 can be had for $20, and that is the OEM one https://www.hondapartsnow.com/oem-ho...802;et=2%2c12). What do you imagine the dealer would charge? $75? Youtubes make these things easy to do without getting your hands dirty.
IMO, that package is expensive at half the price they charged.

I was on the fence about this as well, but ended up buying it for peace of mind. However, mine was $900. FWIW, I also bought tire protection package for $300.
I'd definitely cancel or re-negotiate price.

are the differential/transfer/transmission fluid changes that infrequent? my 2013 MDX gets a differential fluid change every other oil change (15k miles) and a transfer and transmission fluid change every 30k miles. With this new RDX also being SH-AWD, might it be similar? (if not, please point me to the intervals, i can't find them and i'm curious what to expect.)

transfluid is every 60k miles.
are you following MID or your dealer suggestions?

$1800 is rediculously high price, you might not even get new brake pads. So what if the change rear diff once ($100) and $20 air filter.
things like air filter and wiper inserts you should learn how to do yourself.
oil change DIY is a big plus.
The rest is dealer and only when MID requires. Save $$$$.

oh shoot. you're right, 2 different service depts told me the same thing, every 15k and every 30k. Bought that car used so at least I haven't been throwing too much money away yet. Guess it was just a bonus for me that the previous owner also apparently followed dealer recommendations, not Acura's, before I bought it. Now I don't have to be so annoyed in thinking it requires so many fluid changes all the time!

Thanks. I wasn't planning on buying it. I should've stood my ground but it was getting late and I knew I could get a refund after I did my research. Now it's just an inconvenience...

The dealer tried to sell me ext. warranty and other stuff and the only package I bought was a two-year maintenance package, which includes four oil changes and tire rotations at something like $235.

What are the mileage limitations on the 2 years? Can you get unlimited oil changes in those 2 years? Also, you don't say what area you're is, but Discount Tire will rotate your tires for free. It doesn't matter where you bought them. It seems a lot of people don't know this. It's a ploy they use in hopes you come back and purchase your next set of tires from them. It worked on me.

Typically, oil changes are only done per the factory recommendation or maintenance minder. You can't just get it replaced at a whim. In the ones I have reviewed, you are, typically, allowed 2 oil changes per year but I can't speak for what this specific dealer may be providing.

The $235 service package seems to me to be neither a bad nor good deal. It's about what I'd expect to pay, out of pocket, for those services.
Personally, I'd rather pay out of pocket and retain the right to choose when I get service, who I get service from, and what parts are used.

The Finance lady was really nice, so I bought this $235 package from her after turning down all the others I do agree that it is better just to pay for the service as you go.

My dealer sold me a package of 8 oil changes and tire rotations for $275. I can get the oil changed at the recommended interval or at any interval that I choose. The oil and filters are Acura products and I'm sure that for this low price there will be a lot of upselling of "other" services that I will be told that I need to get done. I'm a pretty tough customer on those other services unless its per Acura's maintenance schedule. The oil change minder shows 44% oil life at 4,450 miles. So it looks like the first change will be about 10K miles.

Some of the local low-rent dealers offer free oil changes as a way of getting you in for the upsell. As it happens, my Honda dealer, Curry, did give me the first oil change free with the Accord, their prices have been fair, considering it is a dealer, and they don’t do annoying upsells. I hope for the same from Curry Acura.
My wife’s friend has an eight -year-old V6 Accord and the dealer suggested she change the timing belt. Being the typical suspicious of dealer type she called and asked for our advice since the car only had 40,000 miles on it. I told her a timing belt is it time or mileage thing and that Curry was right and she should also change the water pump while they’re in there.
Not all dealers are crooks.
