2020 RDX-New Platinum White Pearl color and $200 price increase

So my latest checks suggest late June / early July shipments for 2020 RDX. Anyone hear anything earlier/later than this?

Also have heard more flexibility for Advanced exterior / leather seat colors.

If I can an A-Spec Advance/Platinum Elite for MY2020, that will very likely be my next vehicle when my TLX lease is done in August 2020.

spoke with a few larger Acura dealers - now sounds like Sept / Oct more realistic for 2020 RDX

Call me skeptical, but anyone else have a better source than car salesmen? Obviously hoping for earlier.

Honda and Acura are very secretive about product releases. I don't have a source, but I expect the 2020 models to arrive in the fall.

Yes, press releases are on the Acura website for the 2020 RDX. No changes that I can see.

EPA Fuel Economy Ratings (City/Highway/Combined) 22/28/24(2019) 21/27/23(2020)

Do you think this is them not being able to fake as high a MPG as last year, or maybe they fixed the issues with low speed throttle response?

Surprising, especially since they had the '19 on display at the New York International Auto Show less than a week ago.

Look like SH-AWD will be standard for 2020?

Still no factory remote start or folding side mirrors (are they even auto-dimming?). No A-spec package on Advance trim.

WTF Acura.

In retrospect, this is probably due to no more FWD. SH-AWD only.

Looks to be either FWD or AWD options, which would probably mean SH-AWD

Yes, I have seen that, and it seems that the features list published today may be just a copy and paste of the 2019 features, as it shows the "White Diamond Pearl" (from 2019) rather than the new "Platinum White" for 2020.

I don't think Acura has been "shying away" from AA - I think Google has been "shying away" from Acura's True Touchpad Interface. I can't imagine Google's developers devoting many resources to quickly adapt it to work with a unique, new interface in a single model of vehicle from a single manufacturer. Remember: No other infotainment system on the market operates like the RDX's.

This is what I think as well. Google has less urgency when it's only one car at the moment. They have several projects with other big named manufacturers as well.

I don't see how or why Google would pay any attention to Acura unless Acura pays them to develop a custom solution for them. The future of Android Auto is a native implementation according to Google.

If the only change for 2020 is one additional color, this makes the remaining 2019 in dealer's lot look really really attractive from price perspective. maybe a good time to pick one up now.

Yes indeed. I think two 2019 RDXs would look good in my garage, but I don't think my bank account would look as good! Or the look on my wife's face!

This is really odd and came out of nowhere basically. A coworker just picked up a '19 and it's really nice but no Android Auto for the foreseeable future is kind of a dealbreaker for me so I will be taking the RDX off of my short list for now.

Yeah, I'm not an avid Acura observer but I understand the White Diamond Pearl is a mainstay and one of their most popular colors, like forever. I doubt they would do away with it.

White Diamond Pearl is my color of choice. So it better not go anywhere. I’m ok with the slight upcharge for that color over a standard bright white.

I prefer White Diamond Pearl, too. My last two Ridgelines and RDX were WDP. My Accord was PWP and it was too white.

On Honda models, Platinum White Pearl has been replacing White Diamond Pearl, though the Accord is somewhat of an exception in that the non-hybrid model is only available in PWP while the hybrid is only available in WDP.

where can u find these two colors side by side? Just curious. My accord is MSM so it’s time to back to a white pearl.

The closest way I know of is to find/have a dealer park a PWP Accord and WDP Accord Hybrid side-by-side - that's the only Honda model I know of that offers both colors on the same body.

I had a PWP Accord next to a WDP Ridgeline in my garage for a few months. I noticed two differences:

1. The metallic "flakes" in the PWP seemed larger and deeper.

2. The WDP is more yellow/creamy/rich.

Color swatches and photos don't accurately represent the differences - you really have to see them in person side-by-side, but here's a Pearl White (same as PWP) Honda PCX next to a WDP Ridgeline (please excuse the dirty Ridgeline - it won't stop raining here). Some people will prefer PWP because it looks "cleaner" (WHEN it's clean, but it tends to show dirt more than WDP). When you're not close enough to see that PWP is "metallic", it just looks like "rental car white" - at least to me.

Reading into this 2020 further more, if this is the only change, the $200 uptick is really obnoxious. Did the inflation adjusted so quickly between April and May? :-)

The company I work for increases the prices of our products 5% annually except during recession years.

A $200 price increase on the RDX represents a 0.5% increase on the base FWD model and a 0.4% increase on the Advance AWD model - that's very modest.

Regardless, this is common practice among auto makers. The $200 increase on 2020s amounts to 1/2 of 1 percent on base models, and an even less percentage on top end trims. $200/$38,595 = .00518 (0.518% about 1/2 of a penny on a dollar) which is lower than the current inflation rate. "The current inflation rate for the United States is 1.9% for the 12 months ended March 2019, as published on April 10, 2019 by the U.S. Labor Department."

I personally wouldn't call this "obnoxious".
