2019 RDX brakes and Drive mode questions

I have a 2016 Advanced and absolutely love the brakes it has. Within the first quarter/half of an inch of pedal travel, it starts biting the right amount. The rest of the pedal travel is linear and very effective.
I test drove two 2019 (Advanced and Tech) and found the brakes border line unacceptable. No braking starts happening until you are deep into the pedal travel. For hard stopping I had to push all the way down the well.
According to the salesman, that was the way all the 2019 brake. Are you also experiencing the same? I cannot believe that Acura took such a step backwards.

Also, I would like to know if changing the drive mode from Sport to Comfort relaxes the shocks for better shock absorption.
TIA

Same here, had my RDX for 5 months. I am getting used to it, but my girlfriend still complains about it. Her Nissan Rougue performs waaayyyy better. Hopefully Acura will fix that on the 2020s or on the type-s.

my brakes feel fine, I do wish it was a bit more firm and grabby but I have never had a problem slowing down when I need, it is a luxury crossover not a Lamborghini 😁

Clearly it is not a high performance car, (or a truly luxury one for that matter), but why such a step backwards?
The brakes of the previous generation RDX are much better.

Meh. They're fine once you get used to them. I have no complaints and drive pretty hard. I do generally prefer a firmer pedal, but this way my wife complains less about my driving when we're in parking lots. I'm not sure if the suspension changes on other trims, but mine does change noticeably in the Advance. There is a roundabout on my way to work and I have the confidence to add 2-3 mph to my max speed going around when in sport+. I wish the suspension adjustments were separate from the driving mode because I would choose the engine/transmission settings from sport with the suspension settings from comfort as my daily default.
