Agreed! but I am just going based on other manufacturers. If they are releasing the car last 2018 then yes it's too early and we have to be patient.

Unlikely a V6 is in the offing. Honda can spread the development costs of the 1.5L & 2.0L turbo 4s over a large base of product and with the amount of tech in cars today and pricing pressures, they need to save and take costs out wherever they can. The engine will be tuned a bit different but fundamentally the same as the Hondas.

I think there will a V6T coming. It just won't be for the RDX (think TLX Type-S, or an engine upgrade option for the RLX and MDX). Most semi-lux and lux manufacturers have a six-turbo option in their line up and if Acura ever wants to play in the same league, they're going to need something that's in between the 2.0T and the 3.5TT SH-SH-AWD in the NSX. A 2.0T SH-SH-AWD would be a viable alternative to a V6T as well.

Dude works for Honda/Acura.
Nexx has spoken to top heads at Acura. this we know.
what we dont know and what I suspect Nexx cant give; is the info we really want and need. release dates and exact power numbers.

so in the meantime; all we can do is wait and listen to Nexx give out half truths.
this is why speculation threads arent really fun....Sure it's fun to guess....but no one knows whats really going on behind the scenes

no one is asking you to post or even read in here, if speculation isn't fun for you.

By gobbs and gobbs, I'm hoping you mean the torque will be in excess of 300lb-ft!

The 2.0T in the Honda Avancier makes around 270/270 so Id think/hope that the newer RDX would improve on those numbers. That kind of tq down low in the powerband and the RDX could be quick.

The current version of the J35 is a dinosaur. But, the newer 3.5 GDI version used in the MDX and TLX would be a nice option to have. Why not offer 2 powerplants?

You *just* said above (post #326) that speculation threads aren't fun. And yet you're in here. I don't get it

Look, with 5 year life cycles, that leaves a whole lotta time for us to speculate. What else are we gonna do? Watch the grass grow?

Last week I heard from a senior mechanic at our Acura dealership that the model year 2019 redesign of the RDX will include a V6 engine. I don’t know of any way to verify this as true or not, but I am sure that he was sure of it. I think that’s great. The V6 is the main reason we chose an RDX over a Honda CRV. The new 2018 CRV is sure a great vehicle so I’m interested to see what else Acura to differentiate the RDX from the CRV. Anybody else heard this? Anyone else heard anything about timing on the MY19 RDX?

^ Corporate marketing reps can't even be trusted to tell the truth, largely because they often don't know the truth. If I can't trust the so-called "informed", I'll be damned if I'm going to take the word of a mechanic. Until there is credible evidence to the contrary, I'm still betting on an all-4-cylinder lineup.

Most likely only one 4 cylinder engine option lineup too.

Agreed. Unless they offer a Sport Hybrid option, in which case they could pair the hybrid components with a smaller displacement 4-pot, or maybe an Atkinson-Cycle engine.

My rumors for today courtesy of the District Sales Manager. Turbo only, no V-6. Slightly lower hp but more torque so power will come on faster.
A-spec model to appeal to enthusiasts (though no tweaks to engine so largely cosmetic). Availability (in Canada) in June/July. Let’s hope there’s a reveal in Detroit.

I would say definitely. One other thing. He was really positive it would have a 10 speed transmission. That puzzles me. I don't think there's a 10 speed transmission out there in Honda/Acura land is there?

My mistake ... there is a 10 speed on the top-end Odyssey.

Good point - thanks. One more comment FWIW: the new design supposedly will have a longer wheelbase with shorter overhangs.

All the upgrades with sport edition, 10AT, turbo 4, or wheel base will not matter to me unless it comes with sh-awd.

Acura is on the list for companies with official press conferences at Detroit. So we'll be seeing something there.

I'm guessing it has to be the RDX because we've seen nothing about the next-gen ILX and the TLX/MDX/RLX all just got updated.

It looks like the new Accord Hybrid will offer an impressive 324 HP. That's potentially good news if Acura uses some variation of that powertrain in the RDX. Unfortunately, the Accord Hybrid will offer a CVT and will be available in FWD only. Hopefully the RDX Hybrid, if there is one, will at least offer AWD, and hopefully the 7-speed DCT, too.

Not true. The engine output and electric motor output don't simply get added up.

The article has been corrected to reflect this.

Yeah, the article was revised. Depending on where the gas engine makes its power, it should still be plenty potent.
