Honestly I'll probably use CarPlay most of the time but the new navigation system sure looks nice. Graphics are only half the battle of course, if it runs slow then it's not usable, but if this does perform well then it's a massive upgrade over their existing system.

The Navigation system works very well.

Except that you can't name your favourite destinations: your mom's saved favourite will show as "123 Main St". You also can't rename the POI's you save as favourites: your 3 favourite Costco's will all show as Costco.

It's kinda like saving contacts on your phone as phone numbers instead of names ...

put your moms address in your phone. Tell the nav to route to moms, or add your mom as a favorite contact in the system (system saves 30 favorites). Then you can use voice commands to route to moms or just select from a favorite and navigate to it.

I'll try that as a workaround. But this is the first navigation system I've used where you couldn't name your destination favourites.

LOL ... I don't. I was testing how favourites could be named/differentiated.

It's not working for me. Is there a particular format?

I think the address has to be one line. So put the street and city in one field, spaces but no commas. If you have the address on multiple lines/fields the nav shows no results.

I just tried it - you’re right that’s not working. I know we did this at my dealership. I will have to play around with it and see if I can figure it out.

Thanks.

Is there an official way/place/forum with Acura folks where software upgrades can be proposed/discussed?

Dunno, but the PDF is smaller for the new version vs the previous for whatever that means.

But still 91 pages in the PDF. I don’t have time to do a page-by-page comparison, so I wish they’d list or flag the revisions, somehow.

Just did a page-by-page compare and the only differences besides the document ID numbers are on pages 71 and 76 where a couple of references to 'Honda' were changed to 'Acura'. None of the substantive content was modified.

Question Navigating Multiple Addresses

I'm a realtor and when I'm showing homes I want to put in multiple addresses. My last car allowed me to move the addresses around if they weren't in the right order - you would push an arrow and they would move up or down where you needed them. I'm not finding that I can do this on my 2019 RDX. In fact I haven't found how to enter them correctly so I have them in the right order. Any suggestions?

My 2016 RDX allowed changing the order of way-points in a route .

To create a route in my 2020, I first need to select a single destination.

Once the first destination is entered, you can choose a 2nd destination ( either from Find, Recents, Downloads, Favorites, or Desktop). You will be asked if you want to put this new destination BEFORE or AFTER your current next destination. This option works good if you only want 2 destinations in the entire route. But lets say you already have 4 stops programmed in memory. If you want to add a 5th stop at the very end, you can't because you only have the option to place it before or after your NEXT stop.

I recommend planning the order you want to visit each destination before beginning. Enter your final destination first, then enter the 2nd last destination, and choose the option to place it before your NEXT destination. Continue entering all your desired stops in reverse order until you enter the first stop you want to make as the final entry. Choose BEFORE next destination for each entry.

I recommend not using the nav at all I am going to try strapping on a tablet running waze and my phone as a hotspot.

Without live traffic a nav system is pretty useless in most places with traffic.

You must have an Android phone and still can’t connect to the system. I just got on Amazon and searched for “iPad strap” and found at least 3 that look usable for around $12, with proper clips to hold it. A full case with a strap is harder to find and costs more (most of them have a loop just big enough for your hand). I am glad I can use Car Play, though.

The navigation system has HD radio traffic. However that's only for major cities and interstates

It is very spotty. Sometimes my local roads show, and sometimes they don’t, sometimes this road show traffic info but that one doesn’t, and vice versa, and sometimes both and sometimes neither.. The traffic information is very unreliable and often inaccurate.

Having said that, if traffic levels are not a major concern, the nav gets you there OK. It looks better and the lady sounds better than the others.

When I am actually concerned about traffic, I use WAZE or Google Maps through carplay. I am hoping Apple Maps will be more worthwhile in ios 13 so I can use Siri.
