Love everything but those hideous rims. They look so cheap and out of place on a vehicle as nice as the '19 RDX. I hope those are for the base model only.

That's actually an Advance trim in that video. You can tell by the HUD buttons on the lower left part of the dash.

Looks like advance to me, and I agree rims look awkward to me. My ideal would be ASpec exterior with Advance features and interior choices (I'll never get another dark interior).

Incredibly disappointing if those end up being the standard rim on the Advance trim level. How can Acura build such a great vehicle and then cheapen it with wheels like that?

Displayed RIMS hopefully a placeholder

With the nice products hitting Honda lots lately-these look OK for a base model but I certainly expected more Audi competitive wheels. Perhaps there will be immediate upselling or optional wheels. They are not horrible but certainly are tame given assumed Advance model.

HotRodW 05-15-2018 01:15 PM

If the questionable 19" wheels are standard on all trims except the A-Spec, that would indicate that the model shown in NY was either wearing optional wheels, or more likely "accessory" wheels since standalone wheel options aren't Acura's thing. If they're a dealer accessory, you can bet they won't be cheap. $3,000+ for the set wouldn't surprise me. Said 20's are better looking than the 19's, in my opinion, but not that much better looking.

Those wheels look so much nicer than the standard wheels found on the Advance/Elite. Those wheels should be standard on the the Advance, and the ugly flower looking wheels should be on the Base & Tech.

I agree. And since that's how the car was shown in "production trim", I thought that's exactly what was going to happen. Sadly, that doesn't appear to be the case. Wheels continue to be a problem area for Acura designers.

colt427 05-15-2018 01:50 PM

I love the interior and dual exhaust look.

Tony Pac 05-15-2018 02:06 PM

Honestly, wheels aren't a big deal.

I mean it shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Engine, transmission, infotainment and fuel economy are a few that comes to mind first. Worst case, buy beautiful rims for $2-$3K.

TacoBello 05-15-2018 04:29 PM

If anything, I'd look to get oem wheels off another Honda/Acura vehicle and slap them on. You can generally find take offs someone is selling for like 1000-1200 bucks

It’s Coming!
It’s Coming!

And, as my father would say, ‘so is Christmas’. Which gets here when it gets here, in its own good time.

SK1124 05-15-2018 05:28 PM

Acura Canada posted this for those with the team!

True, but we do know exactly when Christmas will be here, don't we?

I saw these pics on Acura connected Facebook page. I’m thinking these are the base wheels because this vehicle doesn’t seem to have the bar of LED fog lights.

Now that we’re old, yeah.

But it used to be sorta indeterminable and taking forever to get here.

Honestly I like those better than the Advance wheels! Assume these are 18's? I would be happy to run these as my winter wheel set-up.

TacoBello 05-16-2018 12:03 PM

There's no way those are the base wheels. Those are these wheels, aren't they? Acura has been using these wheels all over their press photos... just googled 2019 RDX and I saw these all over... but not those much uglier wheels. I'm thinking those others are base wheels. There's no way Acura dun goofed that bad. Which makes sense... why would Acura show off photos of it's base model car, instead of the loaded version, like everyone always does?

I too would prefer the base wheels over the Advance. They're quite similar to the ones I had on my 2011 X3.

Boltface 05-16-2018 12:08 PM

The wheels I saw this morning on the Advanced version were the wheels that people here have said they didn't like, not the ones you showed above. The sales manager didn't know about which wheels went with which trim.

Well, these are 275/45/21 so I would guess prototype or accessory wheels only. They sure look nice though!

TacoBello 05-16-2018 01:01 PM

Hmmm, that I didn't see. That RDX above seems to be sporting these same wheels... seems to have the same amount of sidewall too (same diameter??)

I'm hoping they're an option. They look really nice.

akcooke 05-16-2018 01:17 PM

Interesting... I just saw what appeared a lack of LED fog lights and assumed that was a base model car. The red Detroit auto show prototype (with the really small mirrors) seemed to have a similar design. But then one of the early spy shots of a test mule had similar as well. I'm not sure they look like 21" here. https://3.bp.blogspot.com/--_n2_bBgS...rdx-2019-1.jpg https://st.motortrend.com/uploads/si...around 660:438

TacoBello 05-16-2018 01:30 PM

Upon closer inspection, they do look different. The prototype has more lines on each spoke, color is completely different, and yeah, size wise the prototypes look bigger.

I wonder if fog lights are maybe an option? Not everyone wants to pay for them... they are kind of useless

Correct - they are the prototype wheels. It’s unlikely they’ll be available even as an accessory. It’s even less likely you’ll be able to get 275 series tires.
