on that note.. where do you guys get your car washed?? yeah yeah, i know some of you are gonna get on me about doing it on my own, which i agree with, but living in an apt complex, i dont have the luxury of doing so.
That being said, where do you guys recoomend?? I found a nice place in Southlake near my work.. "Elite Detail" or something like that.. Anyways, pretty pricey, but they do a pretty thorough job.
Curious to see if there are any other local spots i should try.

There is one of those DIY wash/vaccum places right across the street from my apartment complex but I just go to my parents' house and wash it there . I don't really wax/polish it but once or twice a year. As far as in your area, I know some DIY places but haven't personally been to a real detail place...

It is off 75/central ......
I usaly back my car in aganst the far left wall. I will be in the sports bar when you first walk in . Look for a big fat guy with long hair, with an Acura hat and a TapOut shirt on.
I wash my car myself most the time, so I got nothing for you on that one.

Well Crud Puppies !!!
. . .tranny number 2 is starting to sing Turn Out the Lights, the Party's Over.
What stinks is I only have 68k miles on the car, less than 49k on the 2nd tranny, but I bought the car on 3/29/2001 . . . yepper . . . 7 months past 7 years.
I called the dealership where I bought and just laid it out for them, so waiting to hear back on what if anything they will do.

The one in Arlington isn't open yet. It opens Nov 24th.
Far left wall, well I have no clue lol. Should we all just look for Acuras parked next to each other?

Well . . . I got me a 2008 White TL . . . . . . . . as a loaner . .
Yes . . mine's in the shop for a tranny replace. And even better, as I mentioned that I'm past the 7yr mark by 7 months. However, there's some sort of formula for figuring out the warranty. It's not a straight 7yr/100k. What ever it is mine was 7yr 9mos/109k. And . . . I'm 7yr 7mos . . . so I made it by 1 month . . . .
While it was in I asked about getting a quote on replacing the rear mount for$374 and for replacing all the belts for $1047 . . . well looks like I may be tackling the belts some day in the future and the motor mount real soon.
Then it's back on the prowl for a Mustang GT . . . to run . . not buy.

A few surprises . . . some maybe good . . others not so sure.
While driving the08 TL it felt real peppy and even felt like it had more torque than mine. So I did a couple of 45-70 test run on a little section of road I use to test mine out. I was really surprised at the results as they were not what I expected.
The 08 TL posted 5.3 and 5.4 seconds and for mine . . 3.7 and 3.5 seconds! I had someone with a stop watch (so yes a rider and more weight ) and did 2runs for some consistency.
I'm really surprised as I would not have guessed there was about 2 secs difference. I can't wait to get to the track if that's the case. I can say the new tranny shifts like shit. Does anyone know what the 08 does in the quarter?

I did run in to a 5.0 liter Mustang that sounded strong, but he didn't seem to know how to drive as I pulled him from a light and then from a 50MPH punch. Dang, I was really wanting to see how I matched up.

WELL
I'm going to have to take my car back in to DMD and recheck the tranny. It's not shifting right and feels somewhat like it did when I took it in. I'm going to get the car out and check underneath and see if they even changed it. And to top it off . . . it smells like antifreeze cooking after I drive it.

I'll check in the spring and see what weeks the track is open. I'm really wanting to see how it does. Hopefully I'll be surprised like I was with the 2nd tranny as I wasn't initially happy with it.
As for the 3rd tranny, I ended up taking it back in to recheck it and fix a coolant leak. I ended up taking Bob for a quick spin to show him what it was doing. Well . . they fix the leak - one of the hoses wasn't connect fully. Anyway, they could get any codes to come up and the tech said it was within factory operating specs/tolerances.
In the meantime I got a 2009 TL for as my loaner. Aside from the front grill that looks to much like Silver said "Power Ranger Looking". Other than that, I liked it better than the 3rd gen (08) I had last week. The seats (ajustments and feel) were better. The handling, performance were slightly better than the 3rd gen. It did have a smaller trunk and a bigger blind spot, but overall nice. I hope they change the front end for 2010.
Well . . it's Tuesday and I go to pick up my car and Bob's tied up so I leave. I get about 4 miles and at a light I notice some white smoke coming out from under the hood. I figure it's some coolant that was spilt and it was burning off. I decide to stop at a nearby car wash and . . .
the radiator cap is missing and it's spewing coolant everywhere.
So I take it right back to DMD and they are at a lose for words. The tech said he followed he normal process and couldn't figure out how it happened. Maybe thinking I did something. They add some coolant and the temp is back down, so they wash it off . . . and I'm off again. This time I make it less than 2 miles and the temp is rising fast. Well what the heck . . . go right back and check the coolant level and took another 1/2 gal or so and the temp stabilized. Apparently if it's below a certain point it won't flow properly and overheat. While I'm watching the fluid level and adding more as it cycled threw the Director of the dealership/service comes by and asked my if I needed some help so I told him the story. He finds out who the tech was and tells them to bleed the system so there are no more air pockets. After a short wait it comes back out . . the Director is driving it and comments on the power it had. He could feel it just in the short drive. Anyway, he opens the hood and shows me . . get this . . they found my Mugen radiator cap. So all should be good now. I BS a bit longer with him, turns out he's in the offroading. So he had an appreciation for my concerns over the tranny performance. He said even though it's going to be out of warranty next month, if something happened in a reasonably short time - 1 yr or so - they would work with me.
He also mentioned that the ECU changed was done at the shift points - in effect it would retard the timing before each shift. He didn't think this was the case when you gate shift . . let's hope note. I also tell him the next time the tranny goes out - some years down the road, if I have a choice between a 'detuned' set up that will last longer verses the other that may not last as long . . . I'll want the performance over longivity.
In summary, shifting in auto mode stinks, but gate shifting seems to be okay, so hopefully this is it.
