Verizon wireless question

I know there are a few guys on this site that are in the wireless industry, so I figured I'd ask here. I'm planning to disconnect my Cingular service once LNP is in effect. I'm planning on switching to Verizon PTT. Does anyone know is there are any new verizon ptt phones coming out soon? If a new better phone is coming out that supports ptt then i'll wait. I'm not really digging the motorola v60 that they have out right now.

Soopa,

perhaps you should join the consortium that develops the plastic casing around phones ... you could color them pink and put really pretty flowers on them ... maybe then they will work a lot better too!!!!

It is ugly. What about the business crowd, the white collar crowd, that desires PTT? Got one of those phones?

Do you think by the end of 2003, Verizon will have more PTT phones (for customers to choose from) on the market than anyone else next to Nextel...since they only came out with PTT this summer? i.e. Once again Verizon doing something before they have the equipment to support it...half-assed.

Verizon and Sprint's best chance to implement bluetooth came (and went) with Sony Ericsson. This summer SEMC exited the CDMA area, so only Motorola and Nokia can come up with something out of the "blue" by early next year. Otherwise, I think by next summer, you might see Samsung and maybe even another phone manufacturer offering Bluetooth. I (unlike Fotis) am fully aware of the advantages of Bluetooth and am working hard to get those type of products on the 2004 and 2005 roadmap....er for Sprint.

I respond to the industry. Today the industry is asking for certain stuff. You can see it. Flip. Small. Silver.

I don't make this crap up.

Prepaid plans for teens and their cellphones. Any carrier who thinks they can implement a great low-cost prepaid plan for teens and young people with a green and black 2 pound brick phone...CLPower how do you not know this? Do you think that sort of thinking even stops after let's say age 28? 35? 45?

It doesn't. Very few people don't care, most don't mind that much, more wanna see the phone before they take it home or "can I see that one over there...." or "Do you have the X phone" and more than you think wouldn't be caught dead with an X-phone in their pocket. For whatever reason....but it is true.

Regardless of what anyone say, the network are not do different that this becomes an issues.

Verizon with 40 million customers and Sprint with 20 million customers and 300 million people in the US tells me there are other factors involved besides just network and phones.

please

you are such a hypocrit.

i think you care more about how nerdy cool your toys are than anyone here. you brag as much as the next guy when you get a cool looking new toy.

cmon now.... anyone here who says vanity does not matter to them is straight LYING. if that was the case you wouldnt have bought a car from a luxury marque when you can get a comparable car for less if you sacrifice the image. heh

you know damn well that phone is busted. if sprint was selling it you would be all over it... how many times have you called sprint products ugly?

dont kid yourself.

a phone is an accessory. like a watch.

if this wasnt the case most phones wouldnt look like you descibe... flip... small... silver. hehehe

i dont think the silver paint improves reception.

the small size certainly doesnt help it perform better.

phones are all about the way they look. get serious... you all know it... but for some reason this week everyone on this board has homophobia and is responding to every post with "ew you care about THAT :ghey:". and im not talking about just phones... its just the theme of ramblings this week. lol

what your phone looks like has been a factor ever since Motorola bitch smacked everyone with the StarTAC which became an object of desire for young and old alike.

and everyone is really undercover fag but me on this board..everyone thinks everything is gay...still dont know why..

Timeport 270c was way before it's time. It doesn't have all the bluetooth profiles enabled. You'll be lucky to make it work with most bluetooth accessories (ipaq, BT headset, USB dongle) on the market.

Plus it's a 2G phone so the wireless speed will definitely be slow.

Somebody explain to me their desires for asking for bluetooth.

I say this as devil's advocate. You guys should all know I fully understand what bluetooth is, its capabilities, and its uses.

There is no infrastructure in the country for buying anything using your phone and bluetooth. Wireless hands free kit? No problem, Verizon sells one that works with all cell phones. Wireless data kit? If you are that heavy of a use, get an aircard.

Anyways, I want my phones to be black. I turn all the lights off on the outside, and I dim the screens as much as possible. For me, the trinkets are a hassle, just another way for work to get a hold of me.

Ken, nobody believes you that handset diversity are what is holding up the deployment of PTT on Sprint. Verizon launched with the white collar business person in mind. The small v60p, nobody has a PTT phone that small... and Sprint hasn't even launched yet.

Adam, I was giving you a hard time, I know you are into phones big time. I don't use sprint phones all that much, so I don't complain about them. There are 20 million people out there that can do it for me

Even as a teenager I never gave a rip about what other people thought about me or what I had. It applies to this day, and I don't have to worry about a popularity contest with the cell phones.

Keep on Porting your numbers to other carriers people.

Our company gets 1 dollar for every wireless number ported to another carrier

who cares about buying something with bluetooth?

bluetooth enabled cars... see new TL. is a good reason for blue tooth alone.

next to that... you cannot compare verizons crappy wireless head set to a bluetooth piece.

HandsFreeLink™ replaces the hassle of handling a mobile phone while driving. This system utilizes Bluetooth® technology, which transfers incoming call data to the Multi-Info Display (MID), where the driver can view incoming call details. Voice Recognition™ will dial stored numbers with voice command, and will even direct-dial locations stored in the navigation system. HandsFreeLink is available on Bluetooth-enabled phones that are equipped with the Hands Free Profile (HFP).

*************************

What is Bluetooth®?
Bluetooth is the name of a wireless technology standard which allows different types of electronic devices to interact via short-range radio waves. Because of the versatility of Bluetooth wireless technology, enabled devices do not share all of the same profiles. The HandsFreeLink system is compatible with Bluetooth enabled phones that have a hands-free profile. The standard allows a wide range of devices to communicate with each other, with minimal user effort.

How do I know if my phone will work with HandsFreeLink?
Click here for a list of Bluetooth-enabled phones that work with HandsFreeLink.

How do I set up my phone to work with HandsFreeLink?
Click on the Pairing Instructions link to find out how to set up (or “pair”) your phone with your vehicle.

How do I answer a call using HandsFreeLink?
TO ANSWER A PHONE CALL:

1. Press the “Talk” button on the steering wheel. The audio system automatically switches to hands-free mode. Begin talking.
2. Press the “Back” button on the steering wheel when you are finished with your call. The audio system automatically returns to its prior mode.

I have used the Bluetooth Sony Ericsson phone in the TL. It is sweet. There is a reason why every single new TL comes with a Bluetooth module built into the car, whether you own a Bluetooth phone or not. Honda didn't go down this road because there is no need for it or because the technology has short range.

Visit your Acura dealership and see for yourself. Nothing works like a good demonstration. Is it for everyone? No but neither are power windows.
