Verizon: Best Smartphone/Blackberry
New employer is allowing me to select whichever smartphone/Blackberry I'd like with Verizon Wireless.
Which should I go with? I have no experience with these kinds of phones.

Here are your choices on the mighty VZW
http://support.vzw.com/phones/index.html?p=3176 (Moto Q)
and
http://support.vzw.com/phones/index.html?p=3015 (Blackberry 8830)
All new Moto Q 9m (MS windows mobile 6 based) check out www.qusers.com for more info on that one
and the new Blackberry World Edition Model check out http://www.blackberryforums.com/
I'm not too keen on the Blackberry although I hear good things about them. I've never owned one so I couldn't tell you my honest opinion other than playing with them.
I've owned the motorola Q for about a year now and can vouch for it...the Qs are good phones that can do plenty. It all depends on which O.S you like best and what all they expect you to do with it.
Either one you can't lose...you did mention its free right lol? Make sure you read up on both phones tonight via their forums and you'll know everything you need to to make the right choice! Let us know what you get! Post pics

My only complaint about the Treo is the size of the screen. The Samsung's screen is huge.
Oh, IMO... the plans for unlimited web browsing with Verizon is a bit on the pricy side... but then again... it's FAST!

Why? I hear it both ways? What does the Treo do that the bberry 8830 can't?
I don't care about bells and whistles nearly as much as I do call quality/battery life/email

It's actually to a point where I'm kinda "addicted" to my phone...

Can't wait to drive
I have the 8830 since July, so far I have no problems with it. Very stable device. It's convenient to check live traffic with Google maps with it before I drive. only bad thing is that GPS is disabled, so it almost could work as a GPS-capable navigation system...but no ...

I can't really wait for a new phone to be released. 1) I need the phone ordered this week. 2) I don't want to order a just released phone with tons of promising features only to find out it is full of bugs.
I told the boss to order me a 8830. He's going to order one for himself too.

Couldn't get the 8830 because our plan doesn't support it (global network phone)
Ended up with the 8703e which is still really cool.
I'm having fun setting it up. Love it!

Assuming you have an unlimited data plan , make sure to install google maps. Also the 8703e has built in GPS. Right now Google maps doesnt support it (i dont think) but you can download bbmaps to use gps.

I have the google tools.
And yes I'm sure we have an unlimited data plan.
Unfortunately VZW locked the GPS on this phone as well as the 8830.
Something to do with their VZ Navigator wasn't functioning properly so they disabled it completely.

I have the Samsung i760 and I really like it so far. It's my first smartphone so I don't really have anything to compare it to. Alot of people have the Treo, so you probably can't go wrong with those.

I have the XV6700 an I plan to get the XV6800 in Feb when my upgrade time comes. I love this phone, but I do hope they fix the BT operation. Drops too much lately...

Needs more Lemon Pledge
Verizon Treo (700 Palm) is letting me down too often for a thumbs up. Freezes while texting, resets upon pickup of a call, touchscreen doesn't recognize presses, or gets them 15 seconds later... I was holding out for the 755 (no antennae..) but that just isn't happening. Heavy sigh....

I know mr steve has already settled this phone situation, but I hear the new LG voyager is suppose to be insanely awesome... it's their attempt at competing with the iPhone, I've actually hear reviews claiming it to be a better value than the iPhone. Go to youtube and search LG Voyager

better value possibly but... again it's just a fix up of the regular paltry verizon operating system... nice but really only for 60% of high school and elem. kids who wanna look cool
2 days ago i upgraded to a blackberry pearl 8130 from a moto v710... shouldve done this earlier
NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE
i cannot say enough about the blackberrys op. system - it just works
i was FORCED to get the 22$ data plan instead of the 44$ (parents were not to happy) but let me tell ya - the internet access is great and pretty quick... i was a firm wi fi believer over EVDO but this is just as quick w/o any dead spots
blackberry ftw
