plus $70 for wireless charging.....the data/rate plans arent anything significantly less than the iphone.
It looks to be a great competitor. But after my last several experiences with palm...I really hope they work out the reliability end of their product.

It doesn't come out until 6/6/09. Unless you work for Sprint I doubt this.
Anyway this phone is going to be great. I hope it works well with HFL. I've had the Palm Treo and Centro. They both work great with HFL.. and rumor is that we will be able to import the contact list. I hope so.
Here is a good review of the phone.

cool - well you did kinda have a "newer" phone, I mean not like it was an old skool phone or something.

I got the phone on the 6th so I've had a some time to give a good review. So here we go:
Pros:
The size of the phone is great. It's small enough to put in your front pocket, but not so small that the screen can't be seen.
The keyboard, though small, has "sticky" buttons that are spaced far enough apart that you don't hit the buttons next to them.
The multi-tasking is great! You can have multiple applications open and it really doesn't slow the phone down much.
Call quality is on par with any other phone I've had. (When I first go the phone, I dropped like 5 calls in a few hours. I did I PRL update from the preference screen and now I have no problems)
The picture quality of the screen and camera are better than any other phone out there right now...plus there's a flash!
I could go on and on with the pro's, but I'm sure you get the idea.
Cons:
Battery life is not the best (although it seems to get better everyday, now I can honestly say it's not that bad) I've read on many forums that this the experience of many users. Bad at first but getting increasingly better.
The bluetooth is very "buggy" and inconsistent. It paired with the HFL in my TL type S perfectly. It even transfered the phonebook with no problem. The sound quality of calls is great. Problem is I can't end a call from the wheel. This is a big problem that I hope they send an update for soon. I also bought my wife a BlueAnt Q1 BT headset and it work sporadically at best.
No video recorder. Not a deal breaker but would be nice since that phone has all the components to do it. Might be an App for this later.
No way to change the messaging tone. While you can change the main ringer and assign ringtones to contacts there is no way to change text messaging and other messaging tones.
The phone really is nice looking, but is a fingerprint magnet.
Ok...I know there seems like alot more cons than pros but I just don't want to mislead anyone into thinking the phone is perfect. That being said, I really like the phone. Might be the best I've had yet, and I've had many! I think in the coming weeks we'll see updates and Apps to address many of the issues I've posted.
Bottom line is, it's a great phone with many features, and anyone who enjoys "tech toys" will have a great time with it. It just takes a little patience and understanding that this is a first generation tech heavy smartphone that has the issues one would expect.
If you have any questions post them here and I'll try to answer them.

Do you think the increase in battery life is due to the novelty of the phone slowly wearing off, thus you are not playing around with it as much?
I think the screen (probably the backlight) draws alot of power, at least mine seems to (Windows Mobile).

I'm still on the thing constantly. Someone on another forum pointed to the fact that the pre was importing all kinds of information on initial set up. His explanation was pretty in depth and I guess it kind of made sense. I really have seen an improvement. But I also changed a few settings such as import mail as it comes instead of having the phone check every 15 or 30 mins.

i read there was a bug with the Instant messaging app that drains the battery, i stay logged off of AIM and it helps the battery a lot, hopefully they'll fix this in the next update
i also put my screen brightness all the way down and turned off gps, i turn it on when i need it

How do you turn off the GPS?
Did any of you pick up the device for the wireless charging? Runs about $70 or so but looks cool although I heard the back of the pre gets pretty warm.

i dont have that much disposable income for the touchstone lol
to turn off gps go to the last pane of your launcher, its in Location Services
i was looking for wallpapers online when i found this site everythingpre.com
good selection of wallpapers, they also have a store where they're selling the touchstone for 39.99 i think
