Switching numbers question.....

OK i just got my new phone from bimmer88 thats with Tmobile. The pohone came activated by him with a 916 area code number. I need to change it to my 630 number.

Question is.... My current sprint contract doesnt end till Jan 7th. Can I still switch my current number to Tmobile before jan 7th without paying extra?

you will get charged if you port the number over early.

yeah, you will get charged an early termination fee from Sprint if you port your # over early. Once it's ported over, your Sprint account will automatically be cancelled.

I am pretty sure I know the answer since Sprint is involved, but I was able to call Alltel at 23 out of 24 months in my contract and convince them to unhook my contract so I could port the numbers. Of course my logic was because they don't sell Blackberry ... it's worth a call or two to ask. Once you get the contract lifted from your account (in month to month mode) then initiate the port request .... just be VERY certain the contract terms are updated.

I just got his phones too and changed from 916 to a 630, what a coincidence.

I was with verizon. I had over a year left, so I knew right away that I was going to have to pay to cancel the contracts with verizon. All I did was call T-Mobile, they ported my number within hours and my verizon contract got canceled automatically.
