Self Control App

Self Control App
Anyone use this? Sadly, yes I definitely need something like this. I work on a computer constantly and sites like this are detrimental to my productivity. I compulsively check websites just looking for a way to procrastinate.
Anyway, is this safe for my computer? I don't know exactly what it's doing. The one time I tried it, it worked great, BUT I had an issue opening pdf's from the web. Just wondering if someone more savvy than myself could give me any insight on this. Thanks!
FYI:
"SelfControl is a free and open-source application for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or later that lets you block your own access to distracting websites, your mail servers, or anything else on the Internet. Just set a period of time to block for, add sites to your blacklist, and click "Start." Until that timer expires, you will be unable to access those sites--even if you restart your computer or delete the application."
