Quick Review of the Samsumg 1730
I picked up a brand new Samsung i730 for a good price and here are my initial thoughts.
I love the fact that the phone has Bluetooth, Wifi, Infrared, and all the goodies you could want ( minus a camera). For me this is my first PPC/PDA phone so I am used to doing everything one handed, quick and easy. This is NOT the case w/ the i730 - The keyboard is tiny as hell, going through your contact list to send a text message is tough and sending/replying to text messages is definitely a TWO handed operation!
I cannot blame the phone, as it is a PDA phone - I just have to get used to it. The phone definitely has a cool factor, but there are many inherent things that I would change. Even though Samsung says I should automatically see my Linksys WRT54G router w/ Wifi - it does not! Sometimes you have to do multiple soft resets for the phone to connect w/ Wifi and Bluetooth has limited "pairing". Also, your phone can go into a dormant mode requiring extra button pushing to get your phone to come back alive. And I do not like the fact that to customize or fix any of the things mentioned above, I have to go to some PPC forum and search for a fix or answer.
With all that said, this phone is still awesome - You have a Computer in your pocket - It has been stable and Word, Excel, along with all other programs run very well. I am impressed with the user friendliness of the PC portion of the phone and now that I have a 2gb sd card in there, I have a second MP3 player.
After a little longer I will provide an update.

I agree on the one handed part. I went from a Blackberry to this and the berry was much easier to use one handed. It's a great phone though and I have it syncing with our Exchange servers for my work email so it's convenient.
If you use a bluetooth headset go to Verizon's site to download the latest Voice Signal update. Made a night and day difference when using it with my headset. It actually understands more accurately now.
