Poor Service. Phone or provider?

My fiancee has had the Motorola V180 for about 9 months now. I have always like Motorola because of the heavy duty feel of the case. But this phone was all plastic. Anyways, she has Cingular.

When we are in out house, she keeps dropping calls, or no one can understand what she is saying. At this time she has 1 to 2 bars..

Now I have Verizon for a work cell phone. In the house, i to have 2 bars, but I have never had a problem with dropping calls or trouble hearing people.

Even my friends stop by an ddont seem to have the problem with cell service like she does.

Does the phone make that much of a difference when it comes to call clarity? Would getting her a new make any difference?

Some phones have better antennas then others and therefore get better service (even on the same network).
