Nexus 1

Get the Gensoid and SNesoid. I think they're about $3.49/app. Then you can just get free Genesis and Super Nintendo games online and copy them onto the phone. The updated versions are much better than the previous ones, with on screen A/B/C buttons.

I love my Nexus One. I had an iPhone 2G and then 3G, and the Nexus One is better in almost every respect.
The only complaint I have is the auto-correction on the keyboard. My iPhone was a beast at handling typing and I could type almost as fast as on a computer. The Nexus One is constantly missing things, putting periods in when I hit space, and most annoyingly it's capitalizing a missed word every time.
For example if I misspell "you" as "yiu" it turns it into "You". For every word. Pisses me off.

This just in from mobile analytics company Flurry: Nexus One sales are still flopping. After 74 days on the market, Flurry estimates that Google has sold 135,000 Nexus Ones.
In its first 74 days on the market, the Droid sold 1.05 million units. In the iPhone's first 74 days on the market, it sold 1 million units.
For further context, the iPad just went on sale in an online-only mode and sold an estimated 152,000 units in three days.
None of these comparisons can be "apples to apples." The Nexus One is only available online, and only through T-Mobile.
The original iPhone was a completely new style phone and it cost $600 when it came out. The Droid is on Verizon, sold for $200 during the holidays and marketed like crazy. The iPad is a totally new and unique product.
Even with all those caveats, it's evident that Google's plan to disrupt the carriers by selling direct to the consumer is off to a very rocky start.

I don't know if google ever came out with official sales projections, but the analysts (who usually get some guidance from the manufactures) projected much bigger sales volumes. And the Nexus hasn't come close.
Today Goldman Sachs told The Wall Street Journal that Google's initial sales figures were disappointing and that it is expecting Google to sell just 1 million Android-powered Nexus Ones this year. That's down from the original 3.5 million in sales the firm first projected.
http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=8924
Ultimately the issue isn't so much the phone as it is the distribution model and marketing efforts that are hurting it.

What's everyone's impressions of the screen keyboard? My only hang up with this phone is I don't really want a touch screen keyboard like the storm or iphone. I read Pete's response above, just wanted to get others impressions as well, as I haven't played with one yet

I have had an HTC MDA for about 4 years, so I'm comftorable with having a touch screen phone, however I love having the slide out keyboard. My only hesitation to getting one of these is the screen keyboard, as I've only played with the storm and Iphone and wasn't impressed with the keyboards I guess I will have to play with one to know for sure

I had one for about a week, It is a fantastic device but I had several major complaints that made it not worth it for me.
-The Antenna + T-Mobile service made simple things like sending text messages a trial and error task... Covering the bottom of the phone with your hand would cause you to lose a couple bars of service.
-Screen... you cant see it in sunlight where as the iphone or droid.
-Screen... The bottom menu buttons and bottom of the screen seem very unresponsive compared to the rest of the screen (Maybe this was just my phone?)
-Lack of a physical keyboard (personal preference here)

T-mobile service is not great, but if you live in a major city like I do (NY) then it is outstanding. Much better than AT&T.
The screen is tough to see, but if you turn the brightness up, it's not much worse than the iphone.
The bottom buttons are responsive, but they are misaligned, so you have to tap slightly above the button. Once you get used to it, it's not really an issue.

Yeah, i think a lot of things about the nexus one come down to personal opinion. Where i live t-mo is not strong, ATT > Verizon > Sprint > Tmo here it seems
I know they are mis aligned which to me throws a few red flags in the build quality department. Who let that go to a final production device at HTC.. seriously?
And the antenna being so weak that it sometimes has trouble receiving signal through a hand... again... build quality?
Screen brightness outside is really a pet peeve of mine, the droid doesnt have a problem on mid brightness
Not knocking the phone, but it probably could have used a little more development time, Now there are rumors of the Nexus two being developed by a different company for google... that sounds interesting.

Aint Doing Sh*t
The keyboard on this thing is killing me. Even the other ones. It really just doesn't compare to the iphone. Add the calibration issues on top of that and its a nightmare to type with.

I want to like the Nexus One, but the lack of Full Exchange Support (version that includes remove wipe and device password enforcement) is a deal killer. My company has strict Exchange policies and Andriod's implementation is the half assed version.
I know there is the Touchdown app that supports the full version of Exchange, but I don't see why Google can't just support a business standard tech for email. When they do and it's subsidized on AT&T, I will buy it.

The link you posted was to the beta version of the app. Citrix makes a great product, they've been making remote desktop clients for years with Windows mobile and iphone software. Finally we have it on Android, which is a huge plus for business users.
Basically, if an emergency comes up and I need to access my desktop while away from it, I can.

so what's the deal with this nexus one!?!? I've been telling my brother to get this phone for a while and today he comes up to me and starts asking me all about it. So we go to the site to look at pricing and it says $179 for upgrade pricing for existing tmobile customers but when we entered his info it said he was only eligible for a $250 discount and the price was then $279. He's out of contract and is month to month with them (he still has a RAZR) and AFAIK he pay's his bill every month he's not the person not too. So what the F is up?

^Oh, that's lame! Way to dick over your current customers! IDK if he's going to get it now. Sucks, I really wanted to play with one.

^ I know! Well my bro just told me that he ordered the Nexus One! His razr was officially dead so he had to do something. He was planning on waiting for it to be released on Verizon so he'd save the $100 but couldn't wait. he couldn't even wait for the HTC Incredible to come out on Verizon on the 29th which engadget says is better than the Nexus One. Either he said he should get it tomorrow!
I can't wait to play with it. Does double twist work with the Nexus One?

Not sure on double twist but im having a change of heart on returning it, i may buy it with the ATT version, im sure i wont have reception issues with that model. Around where i live ATT is supreme in data and call reception. Had a droid on verizon for a week and that couldnt hold a signal, so im using a Blackberry on att right now and it holds 4 bars everywhere at least.
Only problem is forking out 500+$ for a phone..

A coworker has it and I've spent a few minutes on it. Terrific product.
Question: The HTC Desire is essentially the same phone with some improvements, right? Any word on when it'll come to NA...?

It's also running sense, which some people consider an improvement and others consider a hindrance.

The Incredible (the CDMA version of the Desire) will be available on Verizon on 4/29, which is four days after I'm eligible for an upgrade. Now I have to figure out if I want to wait for the Nexus One.

Yeah...probably need the GSM version of the HTC phone. I'd get a Nexus but I'd rather go with a contract and get it for less.
So, here's hoping the carriers get the Desire soon. It launched in Europe recently, I mean, it can't be that far away, right...? Unless Google has some agreement with HTC to keep the Desire out of NA shores...

Yes, sense is pretty cool, but if you're a true nerd (and you know you are) stock android is going to be the first supported os to receive updates. Sense users will have to wait.

^yes! That's what I liked so much about the N1 is I know that device is going to get all the updates ASAP.
my boss has the sprint version of the HTC hero's and he's still on 1.6 though the update is supposed to be coming soon.

i flashed the sense ui on my nexus one and definitely prefer the android 2.1 ui better. sense is more for show and looks better graphically with it's interface and clock/weather widget. android is faster and smoother with multitasking and app launching.

the incredible does have an improved version of sense FWIW
my experience with Sense is very limited as is my experience with android 2.1 so I don't have an opinion on either but I trust Engadget.

Anyone looking at the N1 might want to take this into consideration:

I don't have a beef with the N1, but I'm probably headed to the Incredible.

Possibly a later build with the kinks ironed out? Either way i am now 100% happy with the N1 and will go so far as to say it was worth the 500$ because im able to sell my blackberry and get some of my money back from that
