New Zunes, now I'm kinda regretting my iPod purchase

I'm asking for the Zune AV kit for my birthday you can pick up the v2 of it for about $70 on amazon. Since it has a glass screen it's alot harder to scratch (none yet) than the iPod classic with it's plastic screen and VERY VERY scratch prone backside so I don't think it needs a case or scratch resistant screen film. Other than that I'm waiting for a good car kit for it. One that plugs into my stock head unit and not one that uses an FM transmitter.

MS is doing their keynote at GDC right now and one of the things just announced is games for the Zune !

We'll let you know more as we get it.

More info about the games on Zune.

Very neat.
In addition, since the Zune has Wi-Fi, you can also do multiplayer games as well! You'll be able to multiplay from Windows to Xbox to Zune, which means that you might be able to develop one game for three platforms (with slight tweaks for each) that people can play with each other. Definitely cool.

So I guess the Zune is BLOWING UP! I just got back form the gym and I saw 2 other people with Zunes! That equals the amount of Zunes I saw all of last year in just one day! I was suprised when I saw the first one (a white zune 30) the chick who was rockin it was pretty hot, I should've used it as a conversation starter but alas she left shortly after I saw her Then about a minute later I looked over and some dude had a blk zune 30. I was thinking about talking to him and trying out the social squirting aspects of the thing but I passed. Maybe I'll try it on that chick if I see her again.

Even more info about the games
I'm imagining a kick ass golf game like golden tee or even bowling for the Zune. With the Zune pad that could be pretty fun!
We got a chance to check out the first functioning games for Zune and were able to answer a few -- but not many -- questions about how this thing's bound to play out.
For starters, first-gen Zunes don't appear to be ruled out by any means, but it's going to be dependent on the game controls. Zauri, the sample space shooter game demoed today, uses the Zunepad, thus wouldn't work (as well) on a Zune 30. Nothing has been decided as to whether games will universally require 2nd-gen Zunes, though.
Use of the Zunepad in Zauri was as a trackpad and omnidirectional -- it wasn't just up / down / left / right, as in the menus.
Right now the system partitions a mere 16MB for storing games, although this might change.
Right now there isn't a professional-grade SDK to announce; all titles should initially be done up in XNA Studio.
Means of distribution (i.e. games loaded through an installer, through the Zune desktop app, or through Zune Marketplace?) has not yet been decided.
The first beta development tools will be out this Spring.
There are no plans for Zune game sharing (yet), so to play with a friend wirelessly you both must have the game on your Zune.
There was plenty more we wanted to know but Microsoft definitely stressed that this is an incredibly early announcement, and many of the details we're all lusting after are still being hammered out. Again, we'll know more in Spring and Summer.

Well I use the kung-fu grip I was born with, that usually helps!
If you were worried about damaging the HD in the Zune then maybe one of the soft rubber like cases to help absorb the force. I think I hard case would just easily transfer the force from the fall.

Zune ain't that great so far. Like someone else said Wi-Fi sharing is pretty much useless at this point. Why have Wi-Fi sharing and not Wi-Fi internet? "Premium" earbuds aren't so premium because they don't stay in your ear! And the software is very hard to organize, I'm guessing ipods is much easier if your itunes is already organized to your liking. Isn't there a way to import all your songs to Zune with your already established itunes settings. For example, my itunes is organized with all my albums, but when they transfer to Zune and you browse by album each song counts as the album.

I think the premium earbuds are great, have you tried changing out the earbuds? They are replaceable. I've found that the smallest ones work great for me and stay in very well even when I go running a feat that was impossible with my $50 Sony in ear headphones that they replaced.
If your iTunes music folder is in the list of monitored folders in the Zune software settings -itshould be since by default iTunes music is stored in the music folder-than any changes you make with iTunes should be automatically recognized by Zune.

I'm a regular contributor on Zuneboards. This might help you: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/tut...-mp3-tags.html
And no, it won't mess up Itunes. in fact, since ITunes and Zune both use ID3, it should help in both applications.

I just updated to 2.5 and I'm very happy! It adds the few features I was missing from iPod/iTunes like gapless playback, smart playlists, and enhanced metadata editing! The update also fixed a couple issues I was having with metadata the Zune software. Now I'm just waiting on the Games CTP which should be in the next week or two!

OH and don't forget you're gonna have to pay to update your iTouch just like you have to do for the last update. This update was FREE! So was the update to the 2.0 firmware for the original Zune 30 before it. Apple you! Have fun paying for features I'd rather do on a computer for free!

Maybe it's just me but where I go if I'm in Wi-Fi range than I have access to a computer. browsing teh net on 24" monitor> browsing teh net on 3.5" screen.
I'll gladly give up the extra space of a HD player for the form factor and the massive gorgeous screen. I'm ok with not having all my music at once, and I almost never watch movies on it so I'm ok with rotating those too. But the mobile browser on it absolutely kills any other mobile browser. It makes a great offline reader too.

I'll have the best of both worlds I'll have my Zune and eventually an iPhone! So there! And no I don't want to combine them into one device. Also the Zune UI is quite cool.
I just got the Zune Pass (something that Apple has no equal too) and I'm downloading a shit load of songs right now!
Also if you're willing to try it the Games for Zune CTP is available but it's geared for developers and not consumers. YOU'll have to download XNA game studio and set it up with your Zune and then download the Games and sync them with XNA game studio. It's kindof like the iPhone/iTouch 2.0 sdk right now, it's not very user friendly. The directions don't look that hard so I'll probably do it later.
