Need a phone with "IM style" text messaging
As the title states, a friend of mine wants a phone that offers an IM style layout of text messages. As an example, the iPhone has this feature. It displays all text messages that you have sent/received with a particular contact at once and organizes them in an IM like format. My BlackBerry Curve offers threaded text messages, but doesn't display them in the same IM format that the iPhone does.
In addition, the phone needs to have a lot of storage for text messages. 1000 isn't enough. The 75,000 ??? or so messages that the iPhone is capable of storing is what she's looking for.
Basically, I'm looking for a phone that will match the iPhone in the area of text messaging.
Thanks!

My palm treo 700p stored a buttload of texts. I didn't delete a single text in a couple of conversations during the couple of years I had it. But you can download the file of messages to your computer and start from fresh on the phone if she wants to do that too.
I'm sure the new treo's have the same capabilities. I got the new treo centro when I switched to AT&T but it took a dump on itself during the first week (coincidentally it was within the messaging program!). I returned it for the iPhone, no regrets.

Oliver!!!
The WinMo Treo 750 does threaded text messaging as well. Actually does it better than the iPhone IMO. I've that that's a Palm thing. All of their models regardless of OS do it. I wish my Blackberry did it, but alas, I'm stuck with their crappy SMS/MMS app. I had it for 2 years and never deleted a message. And I text a lot.
