I bought the two way a few days ago and it says it has a range of 5 miles. However when I tried it out it barely reached one! They said I need an FCC license to use channels 1-7 and 12-17 or something like that. Would it matter what channel I tuned into to get a longer range?

 

I've been wanting to buy a pair of talkabouts for awhile now, but have never gotten around to it...

 

5 miles? I could have told you that....not!

You can get 5 miles from the top of Mt. McKinley to one of the other nearby 20,000 foot peaks.
