Looking into VZW for new phone...

Hey guys! I was looking for a new cellular phone since my AT&T plan ran out. I am highly considering Verizon Wireless because it is pretty good on the Emory campus when I'm there during the school year, and my girlfriend is also on Verizon, so the free in-network calling will be a big plus (for the summer especially).

Right now Circuit City offers the LG VX6000 phone for free with sign up of a 2 year contract. I think I might take this offer up, except sign up for America's Choice nationwide plan for $39.99 and pay the $30 "activation fee" for not signing up for the 2 year.

I was wondering if you guys had any comments or thoughts on this, or any ideas for where I might be able to get a better deal.

Thanks guys!

Damn! Really? Do you know by chance how much it is if I just go with the 1 year contract? Or does anyone have the ad handy? I'm not sure if I even received one in my paper this weekend.

first off dont get the 6000. you are going to have to have it for 1 or 2 years and it was the first camera phone we put out. go with the samsung 670 video phone. its one of the newest phones and cheaper then the 6000 right now. dont know what circuit city will have it for but you can get it for $100 at the verizon store. the picture quality will blow away the 6000 and the 6000 has a big problem with an antenna resister that will break off the board if you drop it. id get the 8900 before the 6000. i know circuit city had that for mad cheap too.

it is capable of taking and storing 2 15 sec videos with sound. the 7000 is the only one you can send video with.
