^^^right now, with my Treo (Verizon) I swear, I use the web browsing more than anything else... scores, news, of course AZ, just random search when I'm bored standing in line at the bank/grocery store etc. etc...

I was reading Gizmodo and a guy sold his original Iphone for $440 to go towards his new Iphone on Ebay. My question is I have a ATT pay as you go phone on the side for no reason. Can I take the sim out of that phone, put my iphone sim in, sell my Iphone and go get a new one in July? I wasn't sure because its a free upgrade (meaning you can buy the 3g iphone for $200 without getting a new contract) if you have the original Iphone. If I sell mine will my account still say I have an Iphone?

As long as you don't call them and change it you should be alright. I would just make sure that your sim works in the phone since it is a go phone. And I'm sure you are aware you would be paying for the data plan still? but since its only less than a month or so I assume it doesn't matter. and FYI I just sold my 8gb for 327.00 on ebay

well...after almost a year I finally got a dead spot on my touch screen. Will be taking to the apple store tomorrow to get a new one.
Glad this happened right before apple care ran out. Think I'll drop the 70 bucks for a transferable extra year.
At least it will be a newer phone for when I go to sell it later.

Juicy tidbit from the iTunes 7.7 build that was seeded to developers today:
Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home -- a free download from the App Store.

$18 upgrade fee
I've pretty much decided that I'm going to ride out my contract on my current iPhone and then dump it. I still think it's a cool gadget, but it's just not at all conducive for me to do anything productive. Pretty much because I can't stand typing on the thing.

inb4 flames about me being an AT&T fanboy/apple fanboy...
Time and time again I hear complaints about the pricing on the new iPhone, comparetively it might not be sweet, but it's competitive. Comparable phones (N95, Tilt etc...) The pricing w/ contract is very atractive. Monthly service is the same as AT&T Blackberyy's and PDAs' (+Free GPS!) Now the no commitment price, that's gouging there, and while were at it, they could nix the upgrade fee too...

Actually its 105 with 3G, unless you are including taxes.
In retrospect, the pricing is in line with other companys, but I would like to bitch that AT&T plans suck overall. 200 texts and then 1500 texts, no inbetween? come on, that's a little dumb. Only 450 mins for $40?
On Tmob i pay $50 for 1000 anytime, free nights, free weekends. 5 bucks for 400 texts (enough for me). Then I could slap on data for 30.
Wonder if I can get a new 2.5G iPhone

Kinda scary that old walt had the phone die on him a couple times cause of weak battery life coupled with the fact you can't replace the battery. Form over function rears it's ugly head again.

Well this was bound to happen. Ahead of schedule, Walt Mossberg has turned his official review of the new iPhone 3G, and we've got the recap. On the whole, Walt stays mostly positive about the device; he likes the form factor (which he wants to stress really hasn't changed much), says the 3G speeds are a big improvement over EDGE (no kidding?), and informs us that the audio quality and phone reception are -- thankfully -- improved all around. Downsides? There are plenty. Mossberg takes issue with AT&T's new pricing policy, which he finds steep, says he only squeezed 4 hours and 27 minutes of talk time out of the battery, and gripes that you can only sync Exchange or personal calendars and contacts -- not both. If you're like us, you'll probably want to just read the whole thing. Too lazy? Check the video after the break.
Update: David Pogue of the New York Times has also turned in a kinda-sorta review of the iPhone 3G, though it reads more like an overview of its features than a honest-to-goodness critique. He also makes passing reference to the GPS antenna being "too small" to function as a proper GPS, which makes roughly zero sense to us. Feel free to figure it out on your own.
Update 2: Can't forget Ed Baig of USA Today, who says the new model is "worth the wait" (not to say we have any option at this point anyway, seeing how hard it is to find an original anywhere). He seemed to have trouble picking up 3G service in some locations, though it's not clear whether that can be chalked up to technical issues with the handset or a lack of coverage where he was testing. Like the others, Baig discovered a noticeable improvement in audio quality and a noticeable hit in battery life when hooked up to the 3G network. Gotta pay to play, we guess.

I have the same problem with my blackjack (3G) and I think it's pretty common with most 3G phones. Over the last few months I have basically just shut off 3G unless I really need it to surf. Either way the blackjack has a removable battery, but I'm not about to carry a second battery around in case the 1st one dies.
I think the right answer to this problem is just keep 3G off until you need it for browsing, it's not like you need 3G to check your email.
oh yeah, and i'm buying a new iPhone 3G on friday

They mentioned the "public but not accessible" 2.0 over at Ars Technica. I'm going to wait until it's official though. The Ars article mentioned people having to do a resotre of their iPhone settings and re-syncing everything from iTunes back to the phone. While it's certainly not inconceivable those things will be necessary, it sounded strange enough to me that I decided to just wait.

its accessible, and yes it does wipe, and you have to restore. My friend (and I if I choose to) can do it because have mulitple machines. So we can try this on our secondary machine, without royally screwing everything up

Retarded salesman. I was out on the street where the AT&T store is and saw one I guess taking a break. I just asked him what time they were opening tomorrow and he was very hesitant. Then he told me that they really couldn't give out too much information. Maybe the guy was playing too much Metal Gear Solid 4. I reiterated by asking if they are opening at 9 tomorrow or will they open early. He then said around 8.
Funny thing was that earlier today on the door of the store they had a sign that said they were open tomorrow 9-6 while their normal hours are 9-8 on Friday. Then they took it off. Does this store not want business?
