Yeehaw
I lost the earbud headphones the phone came with. Not wanting to spend $30 to replace those pieces of junk, I figured I'd get the adapter and use my normal headphones. This is what it looks like:
Not only does it just about double the size of the phone, sound only comes out of one side. I emailed Belkin about a replacement, and this is the reply.
Has the world gone insane? Why is this so painful

Are there any dangers of using a wifi network that is not yours? I'm at school and using EDGE is painfully slow. Also is the edge free, unlimited use?

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Complaints over Apple Inc.’s use restrictions and recent software update for the iPhone have erupted in two lawsuits alleging Apple and its carrier partner, AT&T Inc., engaged in illegal monopolistic behavior.
Two separate lawsuits were filed in San Jose on Oct. 5 — one in federal court and the other in state court and both seeking class-action status.
Both cases accuse the companies of unfair business practices and violations of antitrust, telecommunications and warranty laws.
Apple spokeswoman Susan Lundgren and AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel both declined to comment on them Wednesday.
The federal case was filed by the firms of Hoffman & Lazear in Oakland and Folkenflik & McGerity in New York on behalf of iPhone owners Paul Holman and Lucy Rivello. The state case was filed by Saratoga attorney Damian Fernandez on behalf of California resident Timothy Smith.
AT&T is the exclusive carrier in the U.S. for Apple’s iPhone.
By not allowing other carriers to serve the iPhone, the two companies conspired from the beginning of their partnership to maintain a monopoly, the federal lawsuit alleges.
The companies are unlawfully restricting consumer choice by preventing users from “unlocking” their iPhones, and Apple intentionally disabled unofficial third-party programs or rendered unlocked phones useless with its software update, the lawsuit alleges.
Apple issued the update Sept. 27 after warning users that any ensuing damage to iPhones with unauthorized modifications was not covered by the product’s warranty.
It is unclear how many iPhones were disabled or how many iPhone owners have modified their handsets.
Some hacker communities estimated that thousands of people have downloaded their “unlocking” programs, while AT&T’s Siegel says the company has heard from “very few” customers that have done so.
The federal lawsuit stated it didn’t know how large the affected class could be but pegged the number at 100 or more and anticipates “there will be millions.”
Apple has sold more than a million iPhones since it hit the market June 29.

For those trying to downgrade their iphone.
1. Get the 1.02 Firmware from the download sections of modmyiphone.com.
2. Get Itunes version 7.4.1.2 Google will help.
3. Do a search for iBrickr on google. Download the latest version of Ibrickr.
4. Open ibrckr and it will tell you to click "see how deep the rabbit hole goes"
5. Click, follow the instructions to the T.
6. When it puts the phone in recovery mode, make sure that you hold shift when you click on restore(cmd for mac users i believe). By doing this you will be able to select the file you wish to recover from. Click on the 1.0.2 file you downloaded before.
6.When it's done, it will give you an error, its ok, follow the rest of the iBrickr steps. The iphone will show the orange triangle and iBrickr will restart the phone. After its all done, you may need to close and reopen iBrickr and follow the next stpes to start installing programs on your iphone.

Apple OKs 3rd-party iPhone applications
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21346850
NEW YORK - Apple Inc. will allow third-party applications on the iPhone, Chief Executive Steve Jobs said in a posting on its Web site Wednesday.
In a decision that marks a clear turnaround from Apple's previous desire to control the applications consumers have on their iPhones, Jobs said the company intends to release a software development kit in February that will let people outside the company to create iPhone and iPod touch applications.

Jailbreak through a website for 1.1.1 Users ONLY.
All 1.1.1 users that haven't unlocked their phones, visit http://jailbreakme.com/ and follow the instructions. No more pain in the ass ssh editors, this thing is 123 easy. Good luck.

Literally took me 5 minutes, and I got unix style package management with some sweet games and apps. Check out Labyrinth on the community sources, it is more sensitive than the wiimote, but a little buggy.
