I need help with a "Freezing" Compaq Presario

My roomie has a Compaq Presario 700 laptop and it keeps freezing. Basically works fine for around 5-7 minutes and just stops. Mouse won't move, CTL-ALT-DEL won't work, nothing. Can anybody out there help me troubleshoot and diagnose/fix the problem?

Thanks.

Throw away the Compaq, get an IBM or a Dell.
