Ended up $700.....would have been only up $200, but there are zero hookers in friggin' Connecticut, so I pocketed the $500 I had won for that purpose. Was expecting an Indian squaw wearing fringed leather and moccassins. Oh well.

Anyone got their v710 to work with Motorola Mobile phone tools 2.0?
I did updates to 2.1f and still can't get the software to auto detect my V710. When i choose the phone type manually, I can't get any data out of it ( phone numbers, etc...)
Perhaps I need a USB cable which would totally defeat the purpose of having bluetooth.
Anybody?

Well guys, I've been hooked on internet for a while on my both previous cell phone (I had a Nokia and Kyocera 2255 and i just ordered a V710), and I'll tell you how it works here in Canada.
Note: on my old Nokia and Kyocera, I had to hook the phone to the laptop with a USB cable and then the phone was becoming a wireless modem through the 1X network (Bell Mobility here in Canada).
1st: even if you do have a unlimited airtime for night and weekends, the carrier can do a difference between data transfer and vocal transfer. Your package gives you a unlimited connection for vocal, but not for data, so you are not unlimited for data.
2nd: if your using the browser on your phone, without laptop, (what they call a minibrowser here in canada), yes you can have unlimited access for 5$ Can a month. But it does'nt take in account when you hook the laptop on the phone for internet connection.
3rd: It does exist package for internet access for your laptop here with Bell Mobility. Actually it can be your laptop hooked on the phone, or what they call an aircard insert in the PCMCIA of the laptop. One or the other have the same air time charge. With Bell Mobility, the packages are the following: you don't pay for minutes used, but for megabytes transfered with 1X. So for 25$ can/month, you have 4 megabytes of tranfer allowed. The additional megs are 10$ can each. The biggest package is 100$ can/month for unlimited 1X access.
4th: so every time you access a website with pictures, there is megabytes transfered to your computer and 4 megs goes out very quickly ! The best is to use your connection for emails only, without too many attachments.
Thats the way it do works here in canada, I'm not sure about USA. Since both Verizon and Bell mobility are using the same CDMA technology and 1X, I suspect that it's very similar billing process.
The only difference with the V710 is that the phone is hook to the laptop wirelessly instead of being with a USB cable.
If somebody has a different idea or is sure that your system is different than our in Canada, please let us know.

Yeah Jatt its possible. I had my K700i paired to my laptop via BT. I have T-mobile and i had to add into my plan internet access for 19.99 a month. I got quite a kick out of getting on the internet from virtually anywhere (on the road, anywhere where there is no sign of the internet). Although i deleted the internet from the plan because it was really of no use practically. But yeah its possible... Also you need to keep a couple of things in mind, like the extra initialization commands (contact ur phone carrier for this).
