Did you guys setup a Google Voice account today?

Got the invite in gmail today. Still trying to understand the usefulness, but at least I reserved a number.

It doesn't look like you can invite others like you could with gmail.

From what i can tell, you get issued a phone number. Then you setup where that phone number rings (home, office, mobile or all 3 at once). It does VM to text and SMS transcription and has this cool feature called Listen In (like a home answering machine where you can hear the VM as someone is recording and jump right on to talk to them). Block call feature will send a "You have reached a number that has been disconnected" message to whoever you list to block. It has a lot of features.

Sounds like a good thing for small businesses....

i got the invite 4 days ago. set it up just now, pretty sweet. i got to pick a sweet phone number too, last four digits are "0001"

google never ceases to amaze me. its not often that im very impressed by a service, and when i am its usually google. they target all the sweet spots and charge nothing.

cant wait for chrome to come to macs!!!!!!!!!!

It's already available on Mac. Also it's built of the same technology as Safari so you might as well use Safari 4 cause it's almost identical to Chrome.

I had it back when it was called Grand Central. I use it all the time when I give my number out. The best part is free SMS and voicemail transcription.
