student discount, i bought vista for just over 100... no idea if its mac compatible and theres ways to get around the "student" thing...

Dell OSes don't install on non-dell computers.
In fact, they often recognize it's on a dell computer and it doesn't even ask you for the Product Code.

My buddy works for Microsoft and can get Vista Ultimate (whatever the top version is) for about $60.

If you need a copy, I'm sure I can get it from him.

Edit - Saw you already ordered a copy, oh well.

I just went ahead and got a OEM copy of XP. That's really all she needs.
