Blackberry Bold 9700
Anyone interested or getting this phone?
After trying out the iPhone and realizing it wasn't for me, I think I'll try the 9700. Is it worth the extra coin over the standard Bold?

I've had the Bold 9000 from day one. It was awesome then, and its still awesome now. I like the 9700, and may get one for my next handset, but I don't see where its worth the upgrade for me.
I've got to agree on the iPhone. Not for me. I need a keyboard, a real one.

Yeah, the Pre is cool and all. It certainly looks nice, and seemingly operates easily. But I don't know if I could deal with on a day to day basis. The Blackberry is rock solid and always there when I need it. It just works. All the time. And is always easy to use.

it's been out here in Canada for a couple of weeks. I got one and sold it... didn't even get a chance to open the box. :thumbsdow
From what I heard from other people though... is that it takes some time getting used to the trackpad (Much like going from the scroll wheel to the ball)

Went by the store to look at it. It does look good...but doesn't make me want to get rid of my Curvee 8900 for now. I'll wait for the Tour 2 as well.

i'm using a bold now and looked at the 9700 at the att store the other day. the 9700 is cool if you don't already own a blackberry but i don't think it's worth money to upgrade. differences:
smaller (good and bad, the screen and keyboard are smaller too)
more memory (this is really nice)
trackpad (pretty cool)
3.2mp camera (instead of 2.0 in the bold)
smaller (good and bad, the screen and keyboard are smaller too)

That bubble style texting is part of the 5.0 OS. The 9000 will eventually get that too. Well, its out there, its just not official.
I went and looked at a 9700 yesterday. That trackpad would take some serious getting used to. Other than that, I like it. But is it worth the extra when I have a perfectly good 9000? No, not by a long shot. If I could get it free, maybe. If I didn't have a 9000? Definitely!

I'm thinking of getting one. Most reviews I read say its trackpad is so much better than the old trackball in Bold 9000. At Amazon, you can get it for free if you are a new customer. But if you are an existing customer and you just want an upgrade, you need to pay for it partially ($75)... still better than paying the full amount.

Free upgrades (if eligible) from Walmart's cell phone department.

the screen on the 9700 is actually smaller than the 9000. keyboard would also be smaller due to the 9700 being smaller.

One thing I like MUCH better in the 9700 that you may not read in reviews (or even care about i guess) is the key pad clicking. WHen I'm trying to type something quietly, my 9000 had a very audibly "Clicking" when ever I hit a button. the 9700 is much quieter, so now I can screw around in meetings more easily.

got a 9700 and at first thought I wouldn't like it, but I do quite a bit.
Trackpad is awesome to use... like the smaller size compared to the bold 9000 and everything seems faster. Camera takes better pictures, but that's not saying much.

I have had my Bold 9700 for a couple days now. So far so good, great packaging job. Smaller and more sturdy than the previous Bold...

Click THIS Link
It says the 9000 has 859mb of available memory, while the 9700 has 128.
This is one reason why I am choosing to stick with the 9000, I need the memory, which I think is a GREAT phone but could use a little bit of improvement that the 9700 somewhat improves on.

^it's really common for 3rd party websites like amazon and the link u posted above to have wrong specs. the bold has 128gb of flash memory which is only used for apps (unless u have a software hack) and 1gb of onboard memory. the 9700 has 256gb of flash memory which is double the amount of memory for apps. the problem is that bb doesn't allow u to store or run apps on a micro sd card, for security reasons, unless u hack it.

i love my 9700, it's great for bbm/emailing/msn, but iphone is still better fro surfing the internet..
with 3g, my battery runs out within the day.. I like to charge it every night before i sleep, but sometimes, the battery won't last till the end of night since i've been using it too much

Three complaints about my Tmobile Blackberry 9700
1. My E key sticks, and doesn't work unless I press down on it really hard.
2. The chrome piece on top of my camera button creaks and doesn't seem to be a snug fit.
3. The phone itself randomly fully restarts itself.
I'll call 611 soon. I do like the Blackberry though. Besides these three complaints, I have none.
