Well, I'll credit Apple that they did do the radio right, when they did get to it. If you couldn't tag songs for later download like you can in Zune, that would have been one more attack vector for fanboys. I don't know if you can bookmark stations, though.

This shit is hysterical!!!! I lost it when hitler's underling tries to defend the iPod touch as great gaming machine! I've seen like every version of these and this is one of the best!

Good concept, poor execution. I gave up halfway through because the subtitles were so poorly matched to the dialog. And the subtitle fade in/out? What's up there?

OMG it's not just me!! One thing I dislike about Apple Keynotes is that they overuse adjectives. I swear they can't once mention a noun without putting an descriptive word in front of it. Everything is awesome, amazing, incredible, beautiful, gorgeous, remarkable, and unbelievable. Even the most basic shit they try (but fail) to make seems as if what they're showing you is the greatest shit you'll ever see in your life. ever.

It so fucking annoying, Phil Schiller is the worst!

SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!! Just saying they're the greatest shit ever doesn't make them the greatest shit ever!

People will believe anything if it's presented to them well. that's one of the reasons Hilter took power. that guys speeches where incredible, amazing, remarkable. It was something he practiced and was mentored by a great presenter to get it down right.

p.s. no I'm not comparing Steve Jobs, obama or apple to hitler or his ideals don't say any stupid shit like that. I'm just giving an extreme example of what a great presentation can do at convincing people. that dude spit hot FIRE!!!

p.s.s. while I'd like to choose a better example than hitler as a great speaker, I can't think of anyone else besides obama and Jobso. I guess JFK wasn't bad, people loved him too. but I know only that one inauguration speech.

It's not just iPod vs. Zune, MS vs. Apple, it's more of a weariness of amped-up, one-sided marketing. I'm not too familiar with your profession, but I suppose it could be similar to Pixar vs. DreamWorks, where the capabilities of each was trashed by the other, when both are capable in their own ways. Maybe you would feel a stronger emotional connection with that argument because it's in your field of expertise.

Yes, the goal of marketing is to make yourself appear better, but there needs to be some dynamic. As a cultured audiophile, you understand this. If there's no dynamic range, the sound is fatiguing, and so it is with Apple's demonstrations.

The other issue that inspires a post is the closed-minded attitude of the fanbase from both camps. It's difficult to counter a misinformed, distorted, or biased post while appearing neutral, because concession of any valid point equates to complete victory in their view - they ignore any countering points in the response, or reverse the fanboy argument towards the responder.

The Zune thread does talk about pros and cons of Zune and Microsoft and admittedly, I have been posting more gripes as of late. I also have contributed pros and cons to this thread. Stunna's observation of the mild brainwashing tactics used by Apple is appropriate in this thread. If you want to counter the observation, you can do so, or you can put Stunna on the Ignore list.

so this years iPod event is scheduled for Wednesday September 1st at 10am PST.

Apple is expected to announce a new iPod Touch with facetime camera, a rumored redesign of the Apple TV called iTV and priced at $99. As well as 99cent TV show rentals.

ohh and i would assume updates on the status for iOS4 for iPad.

What I would be using it for, I don't need it. For 1080p, I'll eventually get a nettop.

Does the old AppleTV have a built in wireless router? If it competes with the Roku and has built in wireless and I can stream Netflix, Pandora, etc, then I'll seriously consider it.

If you want 1080p buy a cheap Windows laptop with HDMI out and use Media Center. That can handle every video format on earth.
