Are these made by Beats? I can't justify the price. I'm happy with my $30 BT wireless Kinivo's for the gym

You referring to the AirPods? They're Apple branded.

Is the water resistance where you can dunk it or just splash it? My friend has an old Sony that he can just chuck in the water.

The new Beats headsets are also using Apple's new W1 chip and tech, so I'd think Beats headsets are more Apple now (aside for design) than Apple headsets being more Beats.

Curious how the new Beats headsets will sound. I know the 1st gen Beats headsets were not very good. Too much base and poor build quality, but that was like 6-7 years ago and I haven't looked at them since.

People don't buy beats for quality and sound... They buy them for street cred

It's got a IP67 rating.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code

6 = Dust tight.

No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact (dust tight). A vacuum must be applied. Test duration of up to 8 hours based on air flow.

7 = Immersion, up to 1 m depth

Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion).

Test duration: 30 minutes
Tested with the lowest point of the enclosure 1000 mm below the surface of the water, or the highest point 150 mm below the surface, whichever is deeper.

Anker does some solid BT earbuds for $35, so that's a bit steep.

Add functionality and versatility at the sake of being proprietary? Sacrilege.

Even if it does, it isn't going to matter much to users.

I like the HDD options, dual cameras, water resistance, and the idea of a quad processor where 2 are not as battery demanding. Wonder how that works in real world situations after a year.

Yes, but from what I've read there's still a moisture indicator inside. And it's a toss up with regards to if Sony or your carrier will actually warranty your phone if it has water damage. Some people have reported the phone getting water inside despite its waterproof rating. I wouldn't shit my pants if my phone got wet, but I wouldn't go and wash it with soap and water like people say they do.

In other words, when I went in to the pool with my phone over the summer for over 5 minutes before I realized it, it wouldn't have died...HAHA.

For me the changes are not worth it to upgrade from my 6.

I don't understand how Apple could accept it's phones to be half the screen resolution of their main competitor.

With VR masks at affordable prices now, the latest Samsung is much better for that.

Sorry btw i meant headsets.

VR will be bigger. The experience is seriously wow. It's like walking around in a city, and games are just... well, too real. A friend couldn't keep the headset on while viewing a roller-coaster VR video.

4K phones have a major edge as screen res. makes a big difference.

I'd like a 4K screen for certain VR videos

Lets see...you're whining about VR, which if anything is in its infancy, and screen resolution...on a screen THAT small. Its called falling for sales gimmicks.

Did you try it out?

And VR for phones will be the main market for VRs. Mainly coz its much cheaper. People WILL go and choose to upgrade to a phone with a better res. to be able to play VR games / movies etc. its only a matter of time. No gimmick there. Most android phones have double the iphone's resolution, and others like Sony xperia has 4K. All, for similar price ranges. It's appropriate criticism.

And VR is quite passed infancy. Check number of brands, price ranges, Sony PS, etc.
