O.K. please give some serious feedback of the ip4 from the folks with a month's experience. I was really close of rolling with the ip4, but antennae-gate and the proximity sensor and possibly the new format to CDMA on Verizon and no white phone were to many ???? to commit for 2 years.

I still like the phone, as I'm hook on the iPad, and may consider it for my wife. She is currently eligible for an update, but likes my Captivate. I'm still waiting on some Frozen Yogurt.

But I read on Appleinsider a good comment. Get a google phone, and then buy the new iPod Touch for all of the features of the IP4 like facetalk, the screen resolution, etc. without the additional commitment to a data/talk plan. You can then set up a hotspot on the google phone to connect to the iPod.

I only throw this out because my 14 yr. old will want a new iPod over an iPad.

Looks like I can't get a refund for my invisibleshield.

I downloaded the app for the free cases, but they're all teh sux IMO. I hate bulky cases, and it looks like Apple's bumpers are the least bulky. If I order it it'll probably never go on my phone... Meh

I've had a tough time trying to simulate the 'death grip' on my iPhone 4. Lowest I've gotten it to go is -120.
Tried it just now and it wouldn't flinch from -99... As soon as I let go it went back to -84.

my 4. Way more than the 3G S.
The camera, the display, the look and speed of the phone are what I love.

Since I put on the bumper + front and back screen protectors. No antenegate issues.

Also the proximity sensor issue is a hit or miss. Sometimes I get it, most of the time I don't.

One last thing that kind of bugs me but doesn't happen all the time. If I'm in an area with cell service but it's very spotty. If I try to load a page in safari, but because of the poor connection the 4 just tries to load the page, well my phone gets hot and i mean hot (not quite burning hot but close) during that process. if that makes sense.

I've spent part of last night and today trying to get Android on my iPhone 3G. I'm having trouble downgrading from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 is that possible? It fails during the process. Maybe I'll upgrade to iOS 4 first. I'm trying to you iPhodroid but I'm getting errors and I can't find any help for it.

You should be able to downgrade.

Anyone read the patent for potentially disabling jailbroken iPhones?

Nevermind I figured it out. The error I was getting was supposed to happen. I had to restore twice and then run RecBoot to get out of the recovery mode loop I was in. I'm like waist deep in this iPhone hacking shit now. I'm glad I got a Mac cause most of this stuff is mostly mac/linux only, they eventually release a Windows version but it's usually last.

They are a hardware company and at the end, JB sells Iphones / Ipad. I bought an Ipad today because I knew I could JB it.

OK JB masters. What's the deal with SHSH blobs what does it mean? When the spiritJB came out I backed up my thing via cydia to their servers, I was on 3.1.3 at the time.

Now I'm on 3.1.2 and I'm having some issues getting iphodroid working for some reason it's not saying. I've restored back to 3.1.2 and then run Redsn0w. Installed cydia updates and installed OpenSSH. Then connected my Mac to my iPhone via SSH and I'm getting an error.

IDK if it's an Iphodroid error (it's still beta) or if I'm having an issue on my side. So I wanted someone to explain the SHSH thing to me and how I restore them from their server.

Dang it. Of all days, first day of school and the phone is out again. Not the first time. Push the two buttons to wake up and it says to connect to iTunes. Did that to restore it and it was stuck on Waiting to Restore for a good 15 minutes. Had to go to work to miss all the school traffic so I made an appt with the Apple Store. Removed the Sim and everything to no avail. Stuck on the screen to plug into iTunes. Suggestions?

Use a little program called rec boot. I had the same problem yesterday and it fixed it

I have the justinTV app and had no luck with preseason football. Thanks for the link I'll check it out.

The restore worked at the apple store. Waited 90 minutes for everything during lunch.

SUCCESS!! I just installed Android Froyo 2.2 on my old iPhone 3G!

I updated the version if iPhodroid and it worked like a charm this time and I didn't have the error I was getting with the older versions.

This is alpha android but I'd expect things to get much better. Power management and battery life is abysmal but wifi and multitouch works pretty well, I haven't tried cell signal yet. I got a tmobile SIM I can pop in temporarily to test. The home button is the menu button and the "-" volume button is the home button and the "+" is the call button.

The problem seems to be mostly related to alpha quality drivers and as those improve things will get much better.

next up is to install official Google apps, since they aren't included cause this iDroid project is approved by google.

It's pretty easy. Run 3.1.2 or lower, jailbreak using redsn0w (no spirit or jailbreakme). Update cydia and install OpehSSH. Connect to your iPhone via SSH then run iphodroid.

http://www.iphodroid.com/

iPhodroid should be on Windows any day now.

No and when I try to install the Google apps I'm supposed to not install flash and another app cause the install process fails if I try to install them.

The OS is a little sluggish worse than iOS 4 at this point and YouTube videos while they play they don't show video. Only audio comes out and I'm not sure how to adjust the volume since the volume rockers are assigned different functions.

So what are the benefits? If any?

I thought you did it for the flash, but now I'm curious since you say it doesn't work...

It gives you the option on what OS to boot at the beginning right? So you still have the option to boot iOS 3.1.2?

The benefits are I like to fuck with things and a now have android running on my iPhone! I'm dual booting so it gives me the option of which OS to boot into, I can easily boot into iOS 3.1.2

Again, this is alpha quality right now but then again the project is only a couple months old. It all got kickstarted when one guy showed off android running on an iPhone in April.

So I finally went to the mobile version of YouTube.
Wow much better than the app.

So I added it to my homescreen and shoved the YouTube app to my unused folder

Only thing I don't like is that it opened up safari. But since I'm in it all the time, it's not that big of a deal.
