I was shopping with my mom earlier today, and noticed huge line at local apple store. I figured new iphone 3g came out today.

I also heard that phone wasn't working? Is this issue fixed or still going on?

activation servers were down, and yes mines in the mail from my provider.

it was a rough day. Bad supply at AT&T stores, trouble activating, etc.

I waited this morning but they ran out I'll try again on Sunday or Monday.

damn i didn't know the price was with activation. "early upgrade" price is like $399/$499 and non commitment price is like $599/$699. I guess that is about the same price as the old one. I wonder if I can "early upgrade" even though I just upgraded like 2 months ago.

Yeah I got a 16GB and a 8GB for my pops, although I ordered them over the phone so they are in the mail :whyme:

I don't know why but I rarely get excited about cell phones. Maybe because I drop my phone too much. :shrug: I would break the new iphone within one week for sure.

Woke up at 7, got there are like 7:10 (ATT store).
There were like 25-30 people in front of me and 10 employees. So it took like till 8:35 to get it. Went home, took 10 minutes to activate, went about my day.

I don't get the people who go to an apple store, the att stores were so much less crowded. I went to an apple store to get a screen cover and there were like 10 security guards and ropes marking everywhere off.

Ya but you didn't wait in line like some chump, especially in Canada where the flagship stores hardly received 100 units. I went to my local Fido store and a kind service person told me they were getting random shipments about every 3 hours, I wasn't going to wait that long so just called in, I'm in no rush I have my 1g, and I'll get it sometime next week with no hassle, waiting in line FTL! I already had one of the first 10 1G in Canada so I have my exclusivity. Now to figure out wth to do with it, sell it?, or keep it for the car?

whatever, I'm just happy to have a legitimate Iphone in my country with full support. Instead of having to mess around with jailbreaking etc, although I will probably have to in order to get my ringtones.

Yeah I was at work early anyways so no time to wait in line...I'd probably sell the 1g if I were you, do you really need an iphone in your car? I'm sure you could still get around $400 with it being jailbreaked and unlocked?

Why the hell they sell new iphone 3g for $200? Even some crappy ass phone goes for $200.

Yeah you can get it for $200 provided you sign a new contract I think...at least that's what my impression was

Yeah basically. It doesn't matter if you have an old iPhone or a current AT&T plan. When the new one comes out if you want to get it you will pay the $199 or $299 depending on if you want 8GB or 16GB. Your contract will just go back to 2 years from the date of your new phone purchase. In order to get the 3G however, your plan will cost an additional $10 per month.

So in reality you will have a "new" contract...but it is just 2 years from the time you purchase the new iPhone. It does not extend 2 years beyond your current contract. You can think of it as if they cancel your old contract when you sign a "new" 2-year contract.

Ok, I knew that was the case. Meaning I knew I would be extending my contract another 2 years. I wasn't sure if I would still be getting the phone for the $199 pricetag or not. Thanks for clearing it up.

Got mine yesterday. Went to an apple store at 6:30am with hubby and sister. We waited until 8am. We were probably 80 or so people in. By 8am the line was around the market plaza (imagine a U shaped plaza) area. Took me until 2pm-ish to get into the door. Luckily they handed water constantly and then people from whole foods came and gave us other stuff (tea). They mentioned itunes wasn't activating the phones.

I got lunch and then went home without fully activating it. Came home and connected it to itunes and it worked the first time. :)

I'm happy. Husband and I both got white 16gb phones.

Nice...I couldn't convince myself to get the white but seeing more pictures online seems like the two-tone front and back could work

I Got One Of The New Ones. Got There At 5am, Then We Were Kicked Out Of The Mall Till 6am Went To The Parking Lot And We Were Kicked Out Of The Parking Lot Till 530am. So We Ended Up Being Like 12th In Line At The Apple Store, I Have Not Had Any Problems Everything Has Worked Great.

First didnt the dumbass blend his 3g (new one) he said he was blending his old one.. What a turd.. Second I seem to only have sound coming out of the left speak on my iphone...

WOW! That hurt looking at the iphone all blended up.

anyone else have that prob with the 3g.. listening to songs only the left speaker works.. I didnt blow the speaker first time i used the ipod section the right speaker wont work.. grrrr
