I'm still happy with my 2012 quad core Mac Mini.
Only thing I wish was better was that it had a dedicated graphics card for gaming.
The Intel 4000 integrated graphics sucks.
Ohh and I want a TB raid enclosure.
I hate booting up and remoting into my old PC server that has storage.

With the Apple machines, it just does not seem to happen. The machine I'm typing on is "Late 2015" and going strong. The machine it replaced was a 2010 iMac. And the only reason the 2010 iMac went down was that the conventional hard drive got toasted. After putting in an SSD, that same 2010 iMac is hard at work in another location, 7 years after its manufacture.
I'm a little surprised at the "iMac Pro." I might end up with one at some point, but I can't imagine going farther than the 10 core model that they've already released. For what most of us do, the step up in processing power would slow down what most of us are usually doing, unless you're some kind of YouTube professional who's compiling five video at one time, or something like that similarly taxing.

When we were using PC's, there would be a rash of replacements every calendar year for one reason or another. There was always a reason or excuse.

I have a mac mini as well and this thing cannot run the latest OS, it is dog slow and practically unusable for even the few things I use it for.

You should upgrade the Mac mini with an SSD. Makes a world of a difference.
What year Mac mini is it? My 2012 Quad core runs great with an SSD and 16GB of RAM.
my moms 2011 needs an SSD upgrade, I did max it to 8GB of RAM thou.

it is circa 2012 with 8gb of memory cast off from work.
and the only reason I upgraded the video card was to play the latest games, my old one was starting to have issues with the newer games otherwise if it wasn't for gaming, the machine is perfect.

A few months ago I bought a bearly used iMac 21.5" 4K retina (late 2015 model) from my brother in law because I always like the quality of apple products but my wife has a hard time using it so thinking about selling it. What do you guys think would be a fair asking price for it?
It is a beautiful machine but seems like you can't do everything on a iMac plus not having a cd drive sucks and the external onces apple sells have horrible reviews.
Brother in law bought last spring at Best Buy
21.5"
4K Retina
3.12 GHz i5
8 GB ram

Someone is offering $800 for my iMac. Do you guys think it would be stupid to sell my iMac for $800 to buy this laptop for $600?

If it's gaming, the laptop has a smaller and lower resolution screen. And its integrated graphics (Intel UHD Graphics 620) will perform worse than iMac (Intel Iris Pro Graphics 6200).
UserBenchmark: Intel HD 620 (Mobile Kaby Lake) vs Iris Pro 6200 (Desktop)
Graphics & Video:
- 15.6" Touchscreen HD LED Backlight (1366 x 768) Display
- Intel Integrated HD Graphics

Anyone get the homepod? Siri is terrible slow on it from my test in the store. The sound was decent for a smart speaker but I didn't think it was worth the premium.

Yep. Siri hears me pretty much all the time. In the apple store Im sure siri was very confused. Its works very well as a speaker if you have Apple Music (which I do). Its still siri, which is the worst out of all the voice assistants.

suposedly aimed at teachers and students
rumors suggest the following
$279 9.7" iPad
MacBook Air priced between $799-$899
Airpower Mat
maybe a new Apple Pencil. Or support for the 9.7" iPad

Hmmm was gonna order an apple stylus for my 10.5" iPad I just got. But I think I can wait until the 27th to see if a new one is released.

They need to add parental controls or something to limit usage of their devices during school hours. Many teachers I know complain that the kids aren't learning because they're playing on their phone all day, and they can't take them away from them

Providers will also allow parents to control cellular data and your home router's data when you need to turn it off for meals or homework.
