Anyone have a Bose noise cancelling headphone?

I just got mine and was wondering ...

When I have the TV on with the headphones on, I can still hear the TV thought the sound is much lower than actual volume on. Is that normal? Is that working? Does it just cancel out the aircraft engine noise?

It cancels background noise.

You will still be able to hear people talk to you.

Yea, it filters out all frequencies of sound except the normal range of human voices.
I dont have the exact same one you have from Bose, but i have their aviation headset for pilots. Same technology.

Eggplant,

Silly to ask, but did you switch them on and install the battery that comes with them.

I know what you mean, I've had mine for the best part of 2years, and they updated pair about 8months, and they cancel about 60% of the noise, or filter unwanted noise to where its more softer..... I dont think there is any headset out there that cancels 100% of the noise.

Persoanlly all i can say is they work for what there designed for, Bose provide excellent support, sent my defected set back tuesday, had replacement my thursday at there expense.

Are they worth $300... Thats a tuff question, but i've had no real complaints about them, i've had them on for 6-7hrs and they do not hurt your ears/head after all that time.

If you bought them try the headset out for 20days, Bose have a very easy return policy, so no worries there. Like I said I've no complaints about them, i've tried a few other headsets and i've always gone back to bose. Enjoy...

5 1/2 year bump but I didn't feel the need to create a new thread on this.

One of my dad's friends from Europe was visiting us this past week and he bought these Bose headphones. They would have cost him 350 euro = $475 but waited to get them here at the apple store yesterday with a slight discount, and paid $280 so it saved him some massive dough.

He let me try them on and damn they really do what they advertise. I could hear him talk but couldn't hear anything else. Then I listened to a song through it and it was awesome, great bass and sound quality. Also I love that they go around the ear so they never hurt like others that sit a little on the ear. And they looked like they are built with good quality. I think I might have to get myself a pair.

Holey Moley.... it was 5 yrs.

Just used it last week on a flight and it is still going strong. I have the older model (the one that completely covers the ears) and prefer that to the newer smaller ear pad. I had a friend that actually sold her newer smaller ear pad one and switched to the older one like mine.

I would not fly without mine.

For anyone with the on ear headphones, don't fall asleep with them on. When I first got mine I was listening to music at night and passed out, I rolled over laying on them and now they make a clicking sound when you push on them. It sounds like a little diaphram popping, but they still work fine.

I dunno man, maybe because Im not an audio guy but I could never spend $500+ on a pair of headphones. IMO get a $250 pair of Bose/Sennheiser/whatever and just use that.

I guess it would depend on the battery life.

You know I think I read that it's the official headphone for the Dallas mavericks...
I think just for that I won't buy them.

I was on a flight last week and my neighbor let me use her Bose noise canceling headphones aftarr watching me dig my Apple earbuds into my ears hike watching a movie.

Wow! I am impressed! Now do I buy the ae2 for $149 or the qc15 for $300? Never thought I'd consider spending this much $ on a set of headphones but they were amazing.

Anyone have these models?
