I had a radio made by AWIA, it was about the same size as the first ipod shuffle. This was back in 1984.

My first walkman had auto reverse. I could rock Milli Vanilli and Def Leppard without taking the tape out. Endless hours of entertainment.

This brings back memories....I had the sony super walkman, bright silver and was barely bigger than a cassette tape. Had the play reverse button, you could just tap it and it would play the other side of the tape. I remember buying blank tapes by the case, was always a big deal making them fly mix tapes!

My walkman was the most awesome thing in the world, i carried that, and later my gameboy everywhere. Today, if a kid cant carry one device that plays music, movies, games, browses the internet, and makes phone calls, they dont want it. Kids today have great technology, i'll give them that. but, today's technology has made them numb to the next great advancements. And dont confuse people wanting the new"it" thing with people being genuinely excited and awed by new technology.
I somewhat agree. I know people that just live by their iPhones. They do everything on it, couldn't imagine life before they got one. On the other spectrum though, I know some people who bought an iPhone barely use it at all, then went and bought a 3GS the day of. I'm a so I often find myself amazed at the capabilities of our new technology. To fully appreciate new technology, you have to understand how it functions. Most people don't care to know what goes into making this technology functional and therefor don't appreciate it as much. This in turn causes them to become "detached" from their devices.
