I went to the local verizon store to compare the 2 droids and the guy there told me it's $30 extra for using the droid. I assume that's an unlimited data plan. I'm leaning towards the Moto, but will see if they release any better deals before Christmas. I think the Passion is coming next month, but will probably be too expensive for me to spend on a phone.

My business blackberry sucks and I can get an upgrade...Looked at both Droids and while cool, my price is $99 for the Eros and $199 for the Moto...That's not worth it at this time...I almost rather get the Storm 2...I may wait until prices drop. Supposedly Droid works with Exchange Active Sync, just needs a cert installed. How did you guys get it for $49?

That what it looks like at the moment. Projected release is 1/5/10.

Pretty cool phone. So far, the do not likes are battery life, wi-fi seems weird - speed better on 3G, not really used to running multiple apps....But lot to play with.

Pretty cool phone.
My friend got one a couple weeks ago, and I got to play around with it for a bit last week. Can't say I'd take it over my iPhone, but it made enough of an impression to be a close 2nd. Pretty solid, and navigation was pretty simple.

Overall, I really liked it.

It's pretty cool so far. Has a weird problem with wi fi and exchange support isn't go good. Otherwise, it's sort of if you merged an iPhone with a windows mobile.

You need to get the app that allows you to easily shut off bluetooth and gps. with the extra stuff shut off, I find the battery life to be extremely good. If I don't go online, I can leave it for two days before recharging.

One other little tid bit for anyone planning on upgrading during this promo.....If you do it in the stores, you have to pay for the second phone and then do a mail in rebate to get the money back. If you do it on line, then they don't charge you and make you do the mail in.

Ravi - did you get the Eris or Droid? I am up for my NE2 on Friday and was going to get the BOGO deal. But if you buy the Droid you get the Eris free, not a second droid. My wife's phone is shot and I was going to use this deal to get her a new phone, but of course she wants the Droid and I kinda did also. From what I am hearing though, the main downfall of the Eris is the external keyboard and smaller processor?

The keyboard isn't really a downfall, I for one won't get a physical keyboard because I'd rather type on a screen (much faster). The processor is not as good, but is still decent. Soon, even the droids processor will not be king of the hill. These snapdragons coming out are going to be nice.

I got the Droid Eris. It's the one without the physical keyboard. I looked at the Droid Eris and the Moto Droid in the store and liked the Eris a lot more.

This one....

Not....

I used both the NE2 and the BOGO. I got both phones, 2 car chargers, 2 holsters and a new Blue Tooth for about $130.

I never liked any of the phones with the physical key board for texting or typing. I like them more for dialing.

I got the one with the keyboard, I do use the keyboard during long emails, but got it because of the faster processor. Got a nice body glove for it...

I am having the problem that is in this thread: https://supportforums.motorola.com/t...art=0&tstart=0

Same thing....Doesn't matter what Wi Fi I connect to (ex. home, starbucks, etc.) It connects but the speed is terrible and browsing anything times out. 3G is fine, not sure whether to return it or see if they come out with a fix.

WIth your BOGO Ravi, was your wife up for her two year contract or did you just add a line? My wife's contract is due for renewal until March since we switched to a family plan, the contract dates did not reset to be the same. From what the people in the store are telling me, in order to get the free phone you have to sign a two year contract for it also. I'm not sure if this is BS or not. I think I am just going to upgrade on line and see what it does if they are still having the sale.

I plan on sticking with Verizon anyways. I've been with them for 10+ years and have no issues with them. So to re-up on a contract was not a big deal. I was due anyways.

Not sure why her plan dates will be different from your plan date if it is the same plan. Plus, you are the one taking advantage of the NE2. It doesn't matter about her line. I suggest that you CALL Verizon wireless directly. Don't listen to the clowns at the store.

What they say is true. In order to get a free phone, you have to A) have a line that is eligable for an upgrade, and B) you have to sign a two year contract on that line.

Yes.

Arctic - is one of your lines available for upgrade? Or has it been 21 months since your last contract started?

Yeah, my line was available for upgrade. I ordered the Droid online. I went to two different stores, called Verizon and they both said that for me to get the free Eris, the line that would go through the Eris would also have to be up for renewal as you have to sign a two year contract with that phone also. It also showed up when I ordered the Droid that i didn't have another phone available for an upgrade and therefore couldn't get the free phone.

It is a bunch of BS that Verizon uses to lure people into the stores. In the end it really doesn't matter as my wife didn't want the Eris, she wants the droid also. But I was curious if you had to sign a new contract for the free phone that you received.

Anyone have any good links for where I can go learn about all these smartphones can do? First one I ever had.

No Moto Droid thread, should I start one? I know the apps would be a crossover; but, I'm not sure where to put something like this:

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...our-droid.html

As I stated before. This will be the page where I update the movie links every Friday. So far these are what I have as far as HQ versions of the movies. All encoded with DVD Catalyst 3. All files are over 1 GB, so in order to download these you will need a Mega Upload account. More to come as they become available.

They say formatted for the Moto; but, I'm assuming they would work on the Eris. You need a MEGAUPLOAD pro account, $9.99 was worth it for me to grab these titles for my Moto. My wife has an Eris, so I'll give it a shot tonight and report back.
