I loved that...best sport on tv. I was thinking about trying out for it with some buddies of mine. Never got around to it though and then it went off the air.

Nascar may be one of the most boring sports out there, except for crashes, but it is no way not athletic or demanding as hell. Try not hitting other cars while going around a 20 degree bank at over 100 mph with no power steering. With no A/C and breaks only every hour or so for 10 sec.

The thing that bugs me about soccer is the offsides rule. That rule prevents a ton of scoring.

Again, you have to be in very good shape to race cars. Most racecar drivers lose up to 30lbs. a race due to the physical effects on the body. Plus, having the muscle and mental capacity to to operate heavy machinery is very demanding on the body. The same goes for flying planes, helicopters, etc. (and these too are considered sports).

I'm not a soccer fan so don't think it really matters to me personally but, soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world viewerwise. For me a popular sport that sucks would be basketball

I respect soccor players more than baseball players. But but sports are still weak - although I'll watch an occasionaly baseball game during the playoffs.

Basketball requires the most athleticism of the 3 major ball sports in the USA. Baseball is a sport where you stand around for long periods, waiting for the ball to come your way so you can let go of it within 2 seconds. In Football, you just run into each other and although there is some good sprinting, you don't need to do anything spectacular with the ball but carry it with you to the end zone. In basketball, not only do you have to run and jump, you also have to do amazing and creative things with the ball(double pump, switch hands, great passes, jump shots). Basketball is the most athletic and most exciting major ball sport imo.

Constantly moving, getting hit multiple times during the games, then take a puck to the face...get stiched up and come out the next period and continue to play.

Jonesi, you know I respect your opinion most of the time, but I can't agree with you about hockey. You just can't see the puck that well and the multiple turnovers make the game very soccerlike, which you damn well know isn't popular in the U.S.. Hockey's fun at times when they fight, but they should let them take their skates off and grapple too. No holds barred hockey fights! That would make hockey more popular.

the only reason i hate hockey is because no one ever scores. Its a cool sport, but hard to stay into when sometimes the closest score is 1-0.

But man how can it be below baseball where I can't sit and watch 9 innnings.. It's relaxing to listen to a game if you're doing something but I can't sit for 9 innings of no action..

Basketball all they do is travel now a days.. Talking about palming the ball.. Might as well make it streetball..

Soccer.. I played alot of soccer back in the day and I can't believe people put hockey worse then soccer..

Atleast hockey there is scoring a ton of big hits and fights along with a fast paced game..
