Who Wins the NBA Championship?

Looks like first round match up's shape up like this...

EAST

Orlando @ Detroit
Washington @ Chicago
New Jersey @ Toronto
Cleveland @ Miami

WEST

LAL @ Dallas
Golden State @ Phoenix
Denver @ San Antonio
Houston @ Utah

I know there can still be some flip flopping here.

I'm taking the Phoenix Suns. They've showed they can handle Dallas this year.

Phoenix - Detroit Final.

i'd have to go with phoenix as well - mavericks had their opportunity last year but with Amare back, phoenix has a huge shot to winning it all.

I don't like that match up one bit but unfortunately it doesn't look like Washington will win again.

First of all the Nets are dangerous. They have 3 very good players and can beat anybody. I just don't think they can win a 7 game series. Much like Toronto, they really haven't beat a good team in quite some time.

Secondly, the whole Vince Carter drama that will ensue. He'll be hyped up and looking to beat the Raps, always a dangerous situation. If I'm Sam Mitchell, I send out a goon to hard foul Carter right away. He's a pansy, they may throw him off his game.

As for all the hype surrounding the Raptors, they are overrated IMO. They played in the worst division in the NBA and had a very soft schedule the second half. The only elite team they beat in the second half were the Bulls (Twice). Having said that, they won the games they had to win so.......

Dom, I agree with:

1) Mitchell should send out a hard foul on Vince to shake him up
2) The big 3 for the Nets can takeover a game, which worries me

But, The Nets have NO front court. That's where the Raps should win this series.

as a Dallas fan, Suns scare the living daylights out of me. But the Suns will need to face the Spurs first, and I don't think they can't get past the Spurs.

Mavs / Spurs in West conf finals. Mavs win (health status pending.)

As a Dallas fan you need to hope for the Suns to get into some 7 game series. They will depend on Nash more and more and Nash tends to wear down.

as a huge rockets fan...i'm leaning towards the rockets....if they keep all cylinders running they are just as dangerous as the top three int he west...

but by the way things are going here...i'm thinking either the suns or mavs vs. the heat in the final

Hey, as blinded as I am to Chicago teams, I do have at least a worthy argument for this year...

The Bulls play as good D as anyone. Sure, they don't have that inside post presence all the experts and press are yacking about or a megastar player that makes the team attractive. But, if you look at their record against the elite teams this year, it's pretty good overall.

Put it this way: I wouldn't be shocked if they made it to the Finals.

While I agree the Raps have no shot at winning it all, its better than the nut that voted Nuggets.

Neither would I but I can't see it happening.

Are the NBA playoffs still bracketed?

I always preferred the way the NHL does things and re-seeds after each round.

^^ Agree, we have a really good team this year. I'm thinking Mav's might be making it to the finals and hoping Chicago does too.....

Yeah...but, that was the same line I heard when Vince was in town and peaking for the franchise...?

I think this group should be staying around for awhile. Mitchell's done a great job.

Man, you are so pessimistic. You have been downplaying the raps success right from the start. They have been the hottest team in the East since the all star break, even better than Detroit. Give them some recognition.

Obviously Washington would have been a better match-up, but I think the raps can easily take NJ. Plus the atmosphere will be amazing. I cant wait to see how Carter handles the relentless booing. Maybe we'll even see him rolling around on the ground holding his knee like he did while her was here. ahhh..good times.

Man, yesterday's Bulls game is up there as one of the biggest chokes in Chicago history. From 2nd all the way to the 5th. But honestly, anyone can take the east.
