SPOILER FROM THIS POINT FORWARD:

Though I was rooting for Page, I will say this:

It would have been more dramatic if Iceman had won since Henderson was supposed to be the next in line for the challenge. O well, I guess Wanderlei vs Iceman now would be a legit fight since they both no longer hold the titles. All I want to know now is: Where the hell is Shogun?

Not a fan of Joe Rogan, but I went to Hooters tonight to watch the fights. Agent 47, the one fight you're missing tonight was the best one, Houston Alexander in his first UFC fight WRECKING some guy. Anyway, the fights were good as a whole although I feel both the Thomas and Liddell fights were called off just a touch too early. These guys should've taken a little more beating before the refs call it off.

Alexander didnt just wreck "some guy". That some guy was Keith Jardine and tough motha at that. If you remember, he fucked up Forrest Griffin. I never saw that coming though. I had Jardine all the way.

Eh, I don't really follow UFC too much, I just like going to watch the big payperview fights at Hooters for free

Now that I recall, I do remember they were talking about Jardine being a major badass, but then again they gave some stat about Alexander saying that in his 6 fights, he's had KOs or stoppages in the first round. So I was pretty impressed although I thought he was done for when he lost his balance right off the bat, but then he charged in and destroyed Jardine with the uppercuts.

I've never watched UFC before, but I read a big article on Liddell in ESPN the Mag. I thought he was some great tough-guy fighter. And here he is looking like a huge pussy in this fight. What a disappointment.

Well against Rampage I think just about anyone looks like a huge pussy. If you go back and watch some of Liddells old fights you'll see why he is a headliner.

That Jardine fight was unbelievable.

This is the first time I have spent any money on a pay per view and that Rampage KO over Liddell was well worth it.

**Update**

I was in a hurry to head out last night; thus, I didn't post the Jardaine and Alexander fight. It was an awesome fight. It was especially crazy since Jardine was saying how he was mad because he had to fight Alexander (A nobody in his eyes supposedly) prior on getting a title shot:

I was seriously shocked at the amount of PPV MMA sold in 2006 compared to WWE and Boxing. 233 Mil

Anyone gets hit in the button by these MMA guys (Or boxers for that matter) lights go out. Liddell is a tough SOB, but he's no exception to this rule Though I'm not a huge fan of his, this dude is pretty much unstoppable in his entire 10 yr MMA career. Go check out Iceman's HL films on youtube when you get a chance .

Now that the event is over, here are my thoughts of last night's PPV:

1. Jardine got what he deserved. In the pre-fight interview, he was all talking about how he was upset since he deserved a title shot instead of being matched up with Alexander. Guess he spoke too soon.

2. Big John made the right call by stopping the fight early, but I think I would have let it go for another 10 seconds or so. Main Event of that caliber needs to last longer. Yes, I am no doctor, and yes, the fighter's safety is #1. But, I think another 10 seconds would have been ok..............(Don't flame me for this )

3. Parisyan's Judo throw is f-ing awesome. He will be one of my favorite in the welterweight division if he can keep up with his cardio. I would much rather watch guys like him and Burkman fight as opposed to Koscheck & Diego who fights to win rather than laying it all on the line.

4. The next event is gonna suck unless they add more fights. UFC 73 will own though. That card is.....well...STACKED!

Np man, I will always post it on the same night of the PPV on the "Rambling" section since sometime it stays there and more ppl see it there. From time to time, Mods will move it here in the Sports section as they see fit. So, until I hear something, I will post it on Rambling, but check both places just to be sure

I was kinda sad (?) to see Chuck get KO, the rematch shall be interesting.

I was looking at the next PPV event and there is a fight between Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz. Thats going to be one hell of a match!! Ill take Evans..

lol agent, ain't gonna flame, but i gotta disagree with you. chuck took a number of clean shots to his face and his body seemed to be limp. on top of that he wasn't defending. Big John made the right call. Fighter's safety first just like you said

and I don't see how that was a lovetap. Rampage is one strong mother and he rocked lidell's head to the side.

Was actually at the last minute rooting for lidell instead of rampage. But rampage cracks me up. Great fight turnout

Now where the hell is shogun to stomp all over rampage =P

I agree. to whoever said a lovetap.
Liddell straight up got jacked on that one. It may have looked like it grazed liddell, but look at his head when he gets hit.

Rampage played Chucks usual game. Chuck usually knocks people out when his opponent is on the offensive and chuck is backing up swinging. Those punches dont look powerful, but somehow he managed to do it 4 yrs in a row to guys. Quinton just took a page out of chucks book and beat him with his own medicine. As you saw, Quinton waited for chuck to press the action. I think that threw off liddell alot.

Sorry, but there is no "wake-up call". Once you are that big of a pussy in a fight, there is no recovering. He's a pussy for life, no matter what he does.

It's like calling someone the "n word" and then trying to convince everyone you're not a racist.

lol i'm not realy sure what makes chuck a pussy from this fight =/.

rampage isn't a weak fellow, and one shot knockouts happen all the time in UFC/MMA in general.

Hell, Couture got knocked out with one of Chuck's single counter punches during the one fight where he had to retire.
