Again, like the Seattle and the Saints games, this all hinges on how Grossman plays. I dont think its going to be close game though. I predict it will be a blowout by either team.

i think grossman will have to show what he's got cause he didn't have that great of a game. If the colts jump out to a lead, he's gonna have to throw and not rely on that running game like they did against the saints

Bears will win 34-31 on a game winning field goal

Hey it's ok everytime there is a poll, the Bears are picked to lose and they end up winning.

I guess being the underdog and getting no respect motivates Da Bears to prove all you doubters wrong!

The Bears are only underdogs because how they have performed in the playoffs. Hell the Bears are a #1 seed, and are the underdog to the #3 Colts for a reason. Its not because of everyone has it out for the Bears, everyone just realizes the inevitable.

Wait. The Bears are underdogs because of how they performed in the playoffs...? So, I guess slapping the Aints up and down Soldier Field was not really very good...?

Essentially, all I read really is the apparent giant gap between Manning and Grossman. Otherwise, if you do a line for line/position for position comparo between the teams, I think there are many aspects that swing Chicago's way. But, I must ask: Given the "gap" between Grossman versus Hasselbeck and then Grossman versus Brees, why is the team with the 5th-rate QB still playing...? And really, with all the success Manning has had in the regular season, is he really THAT fearsome in the playoffs...? He's definitely amazing sure...but, he's no Brady.

If Manning is allowed to light it up...then indeed, Chicago will lose. The Bears O cannot go into a shootout game here. However, if they can use the same formula used against the AMAZING AINTS with ballcontrol and time of possesion and force Indianapolis to do nothing but throw...? It'll play to Chicago's strength.

One thing I noted in the NE game was that the LB corp of Bruschi et al appeared slow and tired...against Chicago with Briggs and Urlacher, I'd like to see that happen. Really.

And if Hobbs can run like that against the Special Teams of Indy, I wonder what Hester can do?

Sure...give Indy credit. They are a strong team...and look to have turned the corner on defense. But, overwhelming faves to slap Chicago out of Miami...? C'mon!

Yeah any thing can happen. But when the court orders tank to stay in state lines, I will be much happier. And I for one believe what I said, or I wouldn't have said it. I don't believe in superstition mumbo jumbo, so there is no jinxing happening. Remember Luis I told you what the outcome of the last 4 or 5 games, and I have a great felling on this one. I don't think it will be a one sided blowout, but I think it will slip away from Chicago after halftime.

Our Papa
Who art a Bear,
Hallowed be thy fame
Thy championship come,
Thy play be run,
At home as it is away,
Give us this day our Sunday win,
And forgive us our turnovers,
Though we pounce on those who turnover against us,
And lead us not into fourth and long,
But deliver us from Krenzel.
In the name of Ditka, Butkus and the Holy Payton. As it was in '85 so shall it be in 2007, reign without end.
DAAAAAmen.

Underdogs in the Regular Season: 13-3 and 1st place
Underdogs by many vs. Seattle: 27-24 W
Underdogs by most vs. New Orleans: 39-14 W
Underdogs by all vs. Indianapolis: ?

Please, our boys LOVE your criticism, it only makes them angrier. Oh, and hopefully someone on the Colts can pull a Reggie Bush and REALLY piss them off, although they are probably my 2nd favourite team because they are so classy. I loved Urlacher's comments during the celebration; "Yeah, he's fast, but not fast enough to win!"

mmmmmmmBears!

edit: to those wondering why I wouldn't change my avatar, it's a superstition thing. I touch it, and things might not go our way.

OK, let's try something here. As Yumchah said, I'm already sick of the Manning vs. Grossman BS. I'm sure assholes like Ron Jaworryski and Sean Sucksberry will make their comparisons later in the next 2 weeks, but let's give it a shot:

QB: Colts. This needs NO explanation
RB: Bears. This needs no explanation either. Benson is a crazy downhill runner that has never been pushed back, while T.J. can cut back very well, especially on actual grass
WR/TE: Colts. Could go either way, but I think Utecht and Clark, along with Harrison, make the difference, although I truely believe the Bears have the more dynamic bunch of WRs.
O-Line: Bears. Good running is only as good as its blockers, and the Bears have a good bunch which takes off when it gets hot.

D-Line: Bears. Anderson, Tank, Idonaje, Goon, Brown! Pretty obvious.
LB: Bears. Urlacher, Briggs, Hillenmeyer who would be a standout anywhere else. Again, pretty obvious.
Secondary: I'll leave this up to the general population. I myself haven't been the biggest fan of our secondary in coverage sometimes, but they really hit hard so watch out!

Special Teams: Bears. Vinny is hands down the better kicker based on the past 4 years with NE, but Robbie "Good as" Gould is a pretty darn good kicker himself, as is the Kicking Defense. The Colts I hear have issues with defending, something I'm sure they'll be working on. I'm forgetting one other name on the Bears that made this decision for me. Hmm, can't really think of it. Maybe it wil pop in my head later?

So, I guess I spent 10 minutes of my precious free time deeply explaining how the game will rely on these keys:

The main battles will be:
-Special Teams
-Bears Run vs. Colts Run D
-Manning and Co. vs. Bears D
-Grossman vs. Bad Grossman
-Bears knack for take-aways vs. Colts knack for turnovers

Whoever wins 3 out of the 5 wins SB XLI. That's my brief thought.

Wellll...gocubsgo55's comparo is a bit...biased.

For the most part, I think Chicago stacks up really well against Indy except for QB and WR. The Bears have a decent set of wideouts but they are definitely not in the same orbit as Harrison, Wayne, Clark, et al.

Where Chicago has a definite edge is on special teams and LB. Gould has proven to be capable of kicking in the clutch...but, the X-factor is Hester. And we already know how suspect the Indy kicking team is when defending against returns. As for the LB corp...Urlacher and Briggs? Sorry...Indy is not Baltimore. And even then, I'd still take the Bears LB corp over the Ravens.

Enough with the Chicago underdog card all season. The Bears had the easiest schedule of any previous year division winner in history. Some of those games they dominated, some they struggled. They were favored to win both playoff games. Seattle played them to a tie and they were 9 point underdogs. New Orleans was a FG away from taking the lead late in the 3rd quarter. Still the Bears did win this game, but they were only dominant in one quarter.

The Colts' offense is light-years ahead of the Bears'. Don't forget Addai was a rookie RB in a passing offense and still got 1,000 rushing yards. And the Colts played good AFC teams all year. The Bears have the better defense, no doubt. But the gap has narrowed in the past month, and with nice weather in Miami, the vulnerable secondary is ripe to be picked. Special teams cancel out. Both teams have excellent punters and kickers. Hester has done nothing since the St. Louis game. Can he run one back? Sure. But don't count on it.

All of this adds up to Indy being a touchdown favorite.

Fair enough. The Vikings had a similar schedule and didn't do squat. And Rex would actually be an upgrade on our team.

No way. How long has the Colts unit been playing together? Tarik Glenn at LT, Jeff Saturday at Center, must I go on?
