RIP: Marquise Hill
"May 28 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Coast Guard may have found the body of New England Patriots defensive end Marquise Hill, who has been missing since a jet-ski accident last night in Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana.
``They found a body in the vicinity of where the incident occurred,'' said Coast Guard Lt. Ana Visneski. The Coast Guard is waiting for coroner's office to identify the body, she said.
Hill, a 24-year-old native of New Orleans, has been missing since 9:30 p.m. last night when the Coast Guard received a phone call from a person who found a woman clinging to a pylon in the lake, Visneski said in a telephone interview. The woman said she fell off a jet ski she was riding with Hill. Neither was wearing a life vest, Visneski said.
The Coast Guard is using a helicopter and small boat, and has called in auxiliary personnel to help with the search, Visneski said.
Hill has played three years with New England. He saw limited action last season and was inactive for the National Football League playoffs. Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a statement earlier today that the team was ``shocked'' to learn of Hill's accident.
The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Hill attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and was the Patriots' second-round pick in the 2004 draft. He's a cousin of former linebacker Cornelius Bennett, a five-time Pro Bowler.
