Yea who's the genius that thought it would be a good idea to schedule the games during Lunar New Year. Especially in an Asian country

Watch Olympics or go get red envelopes?

FWIW, it is a nice stretch of days off and so, maybe the rationale was that people who are not working would go attend the events?

Then you realize, are notorious for being afraid of the cold. Think of all the people who had Moms run after them to put on a sweater or jacket when it's like 90 degrees out.

Stereotype much? Your ancestors must be from southern Asia, because there are people living in northern Asia, too.

Naw, dude. My maternal GPs are all from northern Jinah. So, the colder parts of the region.

Anyways, it's just a slapstick hypothesis...I got nothing. Maybe people are staying away because they worried Kimmy will fire a nuke there?

Shaun White should have been disqualified for throwing his helmet into the crowd like that. That was completely reckless and could possibly have killed or seriously injured someone. Super unsportsmanlike conduct.

Figure skating stadium is again only partially filled. For the supposedly flagship event of the Games, there's no sugar coating this. And you can't blame the weather/ cold with it being indoors.

Couldn't be helped. They only have a budget for missiles, not cheerleaders.

Maybe they don't have injury lawyers in Korea like they have in the US? If this happened in the US, there would probably be a class action lawsuit.

Well if the US would get a gold medal for anything, it'd be the sport of litigiousness

Did Shaun White kill your family dog or something? Previous incident with an airborne helmet? What's with the bitterness?

Watching some ski jumping right now. The stands are barely 1/10 filled. And all the camera angles conveniently point away from the stands. They are also blaring the music on high volume to prevent total silence.

I wonder if this affects any of the athletes. You train 4 years to go to the biggest stage and when you get there, no one is watching.

Due to my job, I am always analyzing risks, including those related to health and safety. If someone did that at on one of my projects, they would be fired on the spot. So yeah, while his reaction would seem to be an exuberant celebration to most people, from my point of view, it is reckless.

I don't care if Shaun White wins or loses. Don't get the appeal of snowboarding at all. I'm a skier.

I'd go there right now if I could. They must be giving away tickets at the gates right now.

I guess they are setting a precedent by paying the North Koreans to attend.

What is the weight of a snow boarding helmet? You're acting like he threw a bowling ball into a crowd of infants... Lets be happy for the guy and not a negative Nancy.

I've got ski helmets, so I know that these things aren't that heavy. But a helmet even falling one story down can injure someone or cause a serious concussion. And yes, maybe kill an infant.

If there is an infant at the Winter Games in 10°-20° weather for extended amount of time, there is another problem that should have your full attention. A snowboard helmet is not one of them!

I see infants at the ski slope all the time. Last time it was -10 and some guy was carrying a baby.

She blew out her knee in World Championships in 2013 at the age of 29. She missed Sochi due to re-injuring it multiple times. I haven’t seen the Olympic coverage, but the highlight is her perseverance in the face of adversity.
