to keep it cooler in the summer.
why do people go under shade when it's like 900 degrees out.
Dallas is a warm area. so with the proper air circulation and vents it will be probably 10-20 degrees cooler than outside.

That is a lucid, intelligent, well-thought out response.

-Dallas is not only warm/hot, but can be hella humid, making it feel nasty outside. The dome makes it cooler and more comfortable.
-In fall/winter (football season duh) it can be hella cold. Just because it is in the south doesn't mean we don't get cold weather. The temperature can easliy be in the teens for long periods of time (not to mention the freezing rain/ice)
-Rain
-To block the sun?
-It's cool
-Jerry Jones has more money than he knows what to do with so why the hell not?

And it is fucking HUGE. Up close it is just fucking massive. Even from my old high school which is like 10 miles away you can easily see the top half of the stadium.

I see it everyday on my way to school. Even though I'm not near it you can see it.

The thing is f'king huge. Looks pretty too.

Its a very nice building! Those trusses extending out on each side of the building are obviously massive but they are an amazing touch both Architecturally and in terms of Engineering. They add a nice look to the building, and the trusses open up the huge floor plan inside in that there is not a need anymore to have columns all over the footprint of the stands and field. Also, because the trusses are doing most if not all of the engineered load transfers, there are gigantic curtain walls, and also the possibility to add those ridiculous glass "sliding doors" on each short Elevation of the stadium:amazing again...Also all of the glass on the two long elevations are a nice modern touch new buildings aren't complete w/o: I always see it as a showoff factor to show that the walls are only holding themselves up b/c the truss is doing the rest. Think about it, all that glass around the building could not hold up that roof [as it is made to look like it is doing] for all the lay people...

ok now this doesn't have to be moved into Sports section...and im more interested in cars and that building than i'll ever be of any team to play in it...maybe excluding the bears if im in a sports mood?

It's a hell of a nice looking stadium, and I'm sure the inside won't fall short.
I'm sure the Dallas players will love it.

But lets just say, not everyone in Arlington is the happiest of campers right now.

didn't Dallas Cowboys(the players) and club pay 100% of the care and upkeep for the new stadium.
cause if i remember right. the old stadium was "leased" to the cowboys (players/club) for like 1 dollar a year. and it was silly low. then the players and coaches pay for like if the stadium needs upkeep. It makes the players take pride in their stadium vs just "run it down" don't give a crap we'll build a new one in 20-30 years.

Call me crazy...but when driving by it, it doesn't seem nearly as big as some people try to make it out to be.

Don't get me wrong....it's big...but it doesn't completely blow me away from sheer size relative to other large venue's I've seen/been to.
