Whoa...Steelies are signing Mitch to replace Big Ben: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...burgh-steelers

We'll now see if it's the system or not for the former #2 pick that flamed out in Chicago.

Fins sign Bridgewater as Tua's backup. They wanted him years ago and he's from here so let's see how this goes.

Jags overpay Christian Kirk and some other dudes.

Gotta give them a little credit for trying. Usually they just hide in the corner and wait for the draft

sorry if I missed it, but I see a bunch of teams interested in Deshaun Watson... so... did all the accusations get dropped? Or shoved underneath the rug?

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson won't face criminal charges in connection with sexual misconduct allegations

Correct, but the football fans don't care enough even if he's guilty in the civil court.

Curious your thoughts on this signing H. Mitch was a #2 overall pick, and definitely has a lot of upside, but he definitely did not make a lot of noise in Chi-town. Curious what your thoughts are here

I'm not in one of the cities that are targeting him - I'm curious what the fans in those cities think. I'd have a hard time rooting for him if he were to play in Seattle. I don't care if he dodged criminal charges, it seems pretty clear he imposed himself on many different women. What I can't sort out is were they going along with it at the time and are now looking for a money grab, or did he really coerce them against their will. IDK, the whole thing is a bit messed up. But I suppose like most things in professional sports, if he shows up and plays well everyone will forget. He'll write a bunch of checks and move on. But none of that seems very satisfactory.

It's a loaded question, C.

To be completely honest, I think Mitch has the mental make-up to do well in Pittsburgh. He's a big, mobile...so, there are similarities there to the guy he's trying to replace. The issue for him in Chicago were the following: Turnovers in the redzone, missed open receivers in the flat (just over thrown). This is where, I think it's a question on the system/coaching...Mitch spent a good part of his career in Chicago running for his dear life. If he had the 231421947029 Mississippis like that talentless Cheat in Tampa, I think he'd be just fine. The coaching and offensive scheme also needs to be conduscive for him...and again, Tomlin is IMO, one of the best HCs in the NFL. He won't be as stubborn and idiotic as Nagy et al and try to play a KC-style offense when the QB is not made for it. So, if the Steelies are on a steady diet of say run/throw strategy, which I know they are...he should be okay and esp. if they use more play-action. Chicago? Pfft, WTF was play-action.

Mitch is definitely attuned to the elements so, he'll be just fine playing in the winters of Pittsburgh. I think he's not terrible signing...his record shows he's not a bust. He's no Mahomes. But, was he unsuccessful because of the system and coaching in Chicago? I'd say heck yes. Just don't expect him to be the second coming of Elway or something. He should be fine otherwise and I think be a pleasant surprise for you guys. Classy guy and dealt with the drama in Chicago and the rabid sports base just fine.

They'll simply phrase the argument for however they feel that day. People are not consistent.

So is Kaeperdick going to get the Seattle QB1 spot? They had interest a few years ago but didn't pull the trigger. Will they now with Russ gone?

I really doubt it. Maybe, at the VERY most, they'd let him try out. But he's not a QB1. He wasn't a QB1 after his second season.

Yep.

The Deshawn Watson situation is all the evidence I need for the following statement: If Kaepernick could play starting QB in the NFL he'd be playing. He'd have been playing for the past 3-4+ years. It might be fair to say that he's too much drama for a backup QB, or maybe he wouldn't settle for being a backup. Either way, if he had the juice he'd be on a roster already. Period. I mean, look at some of the guys that ARE getting a chance. There are a lot of teams needing a QB who would be willing to give anyone with skills a look. So either he is unwilling, or doesn't have the skills anymore.
