^^^^ I saw an announcement saying Romo had a broken bone in his back but Garrett hadn't ruled him out yet. At the same time, I have seen reports saying he is out 6 -> 10 weeks. They have a bye in week 6, FWIW........

That's fucking ironic. He's a mixed race kid who grew up in a "white privilege" home. Perhaps he would have preferred the orphanage?

Kap can do that, and you can say that, and it's all within both of your rights. What a great country.

Romo out "indefinitely" with a broken bone in his back.

I find be it ironic that when "priveledged" people speak out about inequality, they are labeled a hypocrite. But then when under-priveledged people speak out, they are labeled whiners. I'm think you just don't want to talk about inequality.

I support his message, but disagree with his methods. There are a lot of ways he could have protested but picking that particular one may not have been the best choice. Now the focus is on him and his gesture rather than his cause.

Romo seems very brittle lately. I'm wondering if it's time. If Prescott can light it up, maybe he doesn't return (think Brady and Bledsoe).

Dak's going to be all over ESPN with Romo out. Hope he's ready for that pressure.

I get Colin's beef. I agree that are SOME black lives that are screwed over because of their race (majority, minority of cases I have no clue). However it's such a blanket, sweeping statement in MY perspective it disrespects the good thing that American government (or whatever specific part of America he's mad at) has done for blacks. He probably thinks that by not standing he's pinpointing his beef towards the "bad" of America but it will cause collateral damage to millions that don't deserve it like good cops, armed forces, gov officials etc that have busted their ass to help blacks.

Dak was not brought in like Goff or Wentz to take over right now, although he has shown great poise in the pre-season. People already clamouring for Romo to be dropped (before the injury) and Dak to start, but how fickle they are. Remember how we ended up picking 4th overall this year?? Without Romo we just sucked. He will be a HOF'er without a doubt, but yes he is older and more brittle and if Dak is the next in line so beit, but we have heard it before. Dak would be a decent nab in fantasy however!

I was thinking about it further - he really did not chose his method very carefully. The NFL is very much in bed with the military. How many fly-overs and military displays happen at games? They go out of their way to make sure people presenting the colors are vets, have stories, etc. How many surprise reunions of soldiers with their families happen at these games? He picked the wrong thing to protest. I think that, and an overly general statement on his behalf is going to just bring on criticism. Also I got to thinking - does this guy just not want to play anymore? Maybe he wants out of SF but this kind of stunt makes him hated everywhere. What city is going to welcome this guy now?

He's essentially made himself toxic. 49ers couldn't have traded his bad contract even if he hadn't said anything. Now with this plus his poor play, he's a liability. Oh and the fact he wore a shirt with Fidel Castro, known murderer and oppressor, means I value the shit that comes out of my cat's ass more than his opinion.

Over the weekend, mediocre 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sat during the national anthem. Why? Because he says he won’t honor the American flag while it stands for institutional racism. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” said the man with a 78.5 quarterback rating in 2015 and an average annual salary of $19,000,000. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” He continued by stating, “I am not looking for approval, I have stand up for people that are oppressed.”

Leave aside the obvious hypocrisy of this nonsense Kaepernick is one of the most privileged people in America. Leave aside the fact that Kaepernick was adopted and raised by a white family. Leave aside the fact that Kaepernick began styling himself a civil rights hero right around the time he started sucking at his job, and that he was fined for yelling the n-word at another player in 2014. Leave aside the lies undergirding his perspective – America is the best place on earth for people of color to live, including black folks, and the notion that the cops are broadly targeting black men for death is statistically false.

The left media have been paying continuous homage to Kaepernick’s “courage” – which is amazing, considering how they ripped former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow up and down for the crucial sin of openly praying before games. They say that it’s just a wonderful exercise of First Amendment freedoms, and that anyone criticizing Kaepernick doesn’t understand the First Amendment. This, of course, demonstrates complete ignorance of the First Amendment – no one argues Kaepernick isn’t free to say what he wants, we just argue that what he’s saying is disgusting and wrong. But he’ll be dubbed a civil rights figure just for saying things while pulling down one of America’s biggest paychecks.

Meanwhile, the NFL has stood for St. Louis Rams running out on the field in the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” pose while refusing the Dallas Cowboys’ request to pay homage to slain cops. The NFL, like much of the sports world, has now been hijacked by the left.

And so we’ll see ESPN cover Kaepernick like a hero for taking action that demeans our veterans and our country. And we’ll see the NFL pretend that Kaepernick is taking a real stand, as opposed to the kind of stand that will earn him plaudits from pundits and quiet pats on the head from the NFL hierarchy. Perhaps the best response to Kaepernick’s routine came via a Gold Star mom, who wrote, “Mr. Kaepernick, I am sitting in my livingroom looking outside at my American Flag – flying at half staff. You see, my son’s body lay in a street after an IED blew up the vehicle he was fighting in. His blood stains the sands of Afghanistan. He died protecting the ideals of the flag you refuse to respect. He died so that ungrateful, privileged, arrogant men like you can be just that – ungrateful, privileged, and arrogant….Shame on you for disrespecting my son and his life. His sacrifice.”
Well said, Ben...

And of course his justification for his slacktivism was nothing but pure platitudes.

"People are dying! We gotta do something!"
"It's supposed to be 'justice for all' but it's mo' like justice for none!"
"People gettin' away with murder!"

Of course no specifics or examples given. Gimme a break.

An editorial with no link to the source posted by Ramblings' biggest skeptic of our current civil rights crisis... That shit doesn't belong in here. Go post it on the BLM thread with all the other posts where you call BS.

I keep reading that CK doing this brings out attention to BLM. IMO, not really. The only items I'm seeing debated are his methodology, his background, and how he could've done it. I think BLM supporters have been heard prior to him protesting and will be heard after he is forgotten. I also think it doesn't help BLM's case but that's probably debatable.

Because Sanchez is so much less prone to injury than Romo.

According to the Dikes coach, the injury is significant. Well, if it makes Minny feel any better, Chicago has been playing without a QB for eternity.

I don't want to pollute the thread with R&P comments about Kaepernick, but will only remark what a firestorm this has become. The social media outrage is pretty intense. Without an apology I'm wondering if he's ended his career. What a stupid, stupid thing to do.
