You do realize that the new stadium would be completely privately funded, right? And one of the teams is already in SoCal?

No one is ever held hostage. All it takes is someone to call a bluff. Let sports teams leave, it's not financially that big of a deal.

LA is just being used as a bargaining chip by these teams anyway. I'd be very surprised if anyone actually moved there in the next 10 years. They've had multiple franchises and all have bailed. I will give the Raiders this though, they have every right to want a new stadium, and now. Their current home is a dump.

Thumbs up

Some design company re-designed all 32 NFL teams' helmets for fun. I thought a lot were cool, so I figured I would share.

^ Some of those are pretty cool. Pats and Steelers could get away with those designs. Some of the others are I'm pretty sure the Vikings would not want bright yellow braids...

For those that don't want to look at every page -

Reggie Bush cut by Lions today.

A.J. Hawk cut by Packers. Brandon "Hands" Bostick to the Vikes earlier this week. At least in Minnesota he won't need to worry about blowing the NFC Championship game.

I'm not whining, as a dispassionate and uninformed observer I asked a legitimate question: Why does the NFL think TWO pro teams will succeed where one has never stuck around in LA.

Aren't Oakland taxpayers being asked to ante up for a new stadium? Thus the threat of decamping to LA...

I like the San Diego one because of the baby blue. That and the old throwback that was big like 10 years ago were really nice looking.

A lot of those helmets are pretty cool. Not all of them are good, but the only ones I don't like are the Jets and the Packers. Sadly, we'll probably never see anything close to those on the field.

To not be condescending, you should investigate the stadium situation in LA from the beginning. Raiders and Rams were in the Coliseum, which isn't suitable for an NFL team then or now. Also, under management of USC, so no way it could host either team on a permanent basis now.

It's either build a new stadium, or they leave. I'm sure you aren't familiar with how much of a literal shithole O.co is. If they leave, they leave, but Oakland is in a position to lose A's and Raiders by letting the situation fester.

Yes they later announced an appeal. Slight change now in his status
From USA Today
The Eighth Circuit only holds court one week a month, and the March docket has been scheduled. The next session is April 13 to 17 – the same week Peterson, 29, could be reinstated under terms of his original suspension by Commissioner Roger Goodell.

For now, the most significant change to Peterson's status is that Vikings officials can talk to him again and begin addressing the concerns he's said for months that he has about him and his family returning to Minnesota.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed "the commissioner's exempt list permits a player and team to communicate" – something that wasn't allowed while he was suspended.

No offense taken, but don't care enough about pro-football in LA to do any homework which is why I asked the question. Just seems odd to have two teams share a stadium. It would be like the Cubs and Sox both playing in Wrigley.

You mean like the Jets and Giants playing in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ???

Pats have told Vince Wilfork they are not going to pick up his option for next season. 11 years with the Pats, but Wilfork says he is not retiring and New England will always be his home. His 15-16 option is $8M and the Pats are over their salary cap. This was all announced this AM, so not sure if they will renegotiate.

In Seattle, the pick was the last play. It was just noise after that.

Reports are saying Manning will be back in Denver for at least another season - his 18th. Took a $4M pay cut but can earn that back with performance incentives. Will be interesting to see how he and Kubiak work together. Peyton isn't exactly a West Coast offense type of QB.

MJD retires.

Did anyone see that Larry Donnell was in the plane that lost traction in NY. A fake version of him called the news and did the ole Fuck her in the pussy thing. I'd post the Deadspin link but blocked at work.

Probably need the cap space for rebooting the defense.

If they could dump Cutler I think they would.
